Wes Sims in his Gi sneaking around from bush to bush was fucking hilarious. He was probably pretty entertaining to be in the house with. You could tell he wished he could be fighting Matt, just the look on his face. He would have got the W for sure.
That fight was brutal. All these guys talk so much shit about how good they are and how they know they can win the show, yet they get in there and are gassed 60 seconds in. That was embarrassing to watch. You have nothing to do but train and your cardio is this bad. Absolutely pathetic. I was hoping we were gonna have at least 2 or 3 guys to join the heavyweight division but only Roy Nelson has a shot at making it, the rest of these guys are just painful to watch.
I really hope Marcus KO's his opponent, I like him and we need a good finish to end the 1st rd.
...I'm going to ask this as respectfully as possible, but do you think the standards were lowered a bit for accepting fighters into this season? There were no "earn your place on the show" fights for starters...Very little ground game displayed by anyone. Cardio has been close to non-existant...The UFC H.W. division needs more contenders than any other weight class, I just have a hard time believing this is the best they could have come up with. I get tired of watching the Kimbo factor get beat to death, but is it possible they were trying to get a large portion of guys on the show they thought he could beat to help keep the ratings up or something? The fights this season have been trainwrecks for the most part, last night's by far the worst of all, and it's all I can do to make it through half the drama-infested editing before they even happen.
I am glad Roy Nelson is on this season, but why he's there and Ben Rothwell just co-headlined the last PPV is another mind-fuck. Outside of Nelson and the guy that choked out Simms I've all but lost hope for this one. I've had some TUF burnout going on for the past few seasons, this may be the last I bother to pay attention to.

I was thinking the same thing. They saw a few former NFL players came to tryouts and signed them up based on the NFL alone. If it wasnt for Roy Nelson this season would be a total waste of time. True MMA fans knew Kimbo wasnt going to be able to hang with a real fighter but the people who claim to be MMA fans who still Kimbo is an awesome fighter are watching just for him. This season seems to just be a try at a ratings boost. No one from this season will ever come close to being a title contender.

Thats exactly what it seems like. Stacked it with jabronis and a few names to get some ratings, all set up for Kimbo to win it. But I dont think they expected Roy Nelson to be Kimbo's first opponent. Rashad is just too good with the fight selection, he knows what Rampage guys weaknesses are and puts one of his guys that can exploit it. Hits the bullseye every time. Too bad the fights couldnt have gone like this:
Wes Simms/Roy Nelson
Kimbo Slice/Matt Mitrione
Scott Junk vs Justin Wren
Would have made for much more entertaining fights i think.

I can totally understand where you're coming from. It is really sad to see most of these guys fight (or lack thereof in so many more ways).
However, the truth is that Heavyweight is always going to be the toughest division to fill in MMA because most of these guys are that size due to being out of shape. I used to practice with a few guys that big and I quickly noticed two things:
1) They're strong as Hell because they are used to carrying around that kind of extra weight (even if they don't look it).
2) They gas out faster than shit (1-2 minutes).
Smaller guys just need to weather the first couple minutes and then it's a cakewalk from there (sometimes easier said than done, though...once I literally got spot-thrown clear across the room and almost through my TV). My main point is that guys like Cain Velasquez and Brock Lesnar are extreme exceptions when you're dealing with that much weight on a guy.
Also notice that most of the fast-moving, cardio-enduring Heavyweights come from a wrestling background but even then there are just not that many of them because you stop wrestling around college age, start (or keep) drinking beer and ultimately get fat/out-of-shape (unless you join WWE or whatever they call it now...).
Not all HW get tired after a couple of minutes, Fedor for example looks extremely "fresh" between rounds and I have never seen him really tired. (And I am talking about the fights that lasted more than 5 minutes...that are few)
This fight was so bad My thoughts are Junk had an adrenalin dump because he didn't make 2.5 min and he was done. I made that mistake once in my life and was dumb founded why I couldn't go. I think he over hyped himself before the fight, and Spike pushed it. This isn't his first merrygoround so he should of new better. Mitirone goffy as he is, his mind speaking to him probely saved him as he relaxed. I suggest the nexted TUF they do a 4 week cardio trainning before the show starts. Nothing worse then watching two gassed fighters slow dance.
Seriously. And Dana White is practically chanting, GREAT FIGHT! GREAT FIGHT!
I'm thinking, what the hell is he watching?
I was thinking the same thing when they showed the clip of Dana standing up clapping after the first round.
The fight was horrible and painful to watch. It literally reminded me of a bar fight. Sure it starts out pretty good with both guys going swinging for the fences but then after about a minute everything goes in slow-mo and both guys are standing there gasping for air.
If the Marcus fight is as bad as this last fight i'll probably just stop watching the show. No way these guys can handle Big Country in the shape they are in.
