The point of mma is not to hit your opponent as hard as you can.

Roy executed a perfect gameplan(which was discussed on the show with his teammates before the fight).

Kimbo is lucky the fight was not stopped in rd 1. He was a fish out of water on his back.

Do you agree with him or do you think he is a childish prick that is destroying the ART in MIXED MARTIAL ARTS.
Also what do you think about UFC promoting Kimbo when he clearly has no ground game whatsoever? Is it a bad move for UFC?
I picked up on what Dana was saying to. Nelson looked really good in the fight, and Dana insults him for it, was really messed up imo. Rampage was hilarious as always. Anyways, if Matt Hughes gets a guy in the crucifix, its a wonderful thing. Nelson gets it twice in a fight, and Dana talks shit, was messed up imo.

Saw some other people saying that it looks like Kimbo is just too far behind in the grappling game, and I agree, his stand up is still very sharp even at the higher levels but I don't see his ground game catching up enough, I mean imagine what Carwin, Couture, Velasquez, or Lesnar would do to this guy. Nogueira would just sub him in a few minutes.

Boring fight but the bottom line is that Big Country still won. I hate how cocky he got after the ref stoppage considering that wasn't even an impressive win what so ever.

My money is on Kimbo fighting again before the season is over. My theory is that with Kimbo being the ratings hound it doesn't make sense for the UFC to have him fight and lose on the third episode and then hope people continue to tune in to the other fighters who they don't know. I just think this isn't the last time we'll see him fight.

Personally, I dont like Kimbo, but Roy Nelson is completely annoying and not funny. And he needs to be humbled immediately.

I hope they do not bring him back, I hope Dana has some integrity ( although not sure if you can but Dana White and integrity in the same sentence). I am not a Dana hater, but last night made me lose what respect I had for Dana after his comments hyping Kimbo and bashing Nelson after the fight. Dana is worse than the Elite XC guys he used to criticize for using Kimbo to sell tickets.

Kimbo seems like a nice enough guy, and has a punchers chance, but he has no take down defence or ground game and I doubt he will ever be able to learn it well enough to compete with anyone at a high level.

I have seen a few people make comparisons with Kongo, but I think Kongo has mid level take down defence, he is able to defend against mid level opponents but not good wrestlers, I doubt Kimbo could stuff a mid level guy. I also think Kongo’s stand up is much better and he does have decent ground and pound.

On a side note, anyone else think that Nelson is too small framewise for HW? He is 263 with a 40-50lbs stomach. “If” he lost the stomach he could probably cut down to the LHW.

Yeah a win is a win, I thought it was a poor win in comparison to "Big Country's" celebration but who am I to tell a fighter how to celebrate. I also think Roy Nelson is a fucking jerk-off with a huge ego and this feeds into it even more. Did you hear the bullshit he was talking on the second episode? "When two masters come together they both put all their tools on the floor and combined them" (not sure if that's exactly it) that's a bunch of egotistical bullshit if you ask me, you're there to learn man, fuckin do it.

I usually don't reply but on this subject I have to. I completely understand where Dana was coming from. The UFC is looking for stars not guys who are looking For an easy way out. By no means at any point did big country have Kimbo hurt. I personally think he was afraid of Kimbo and took a shortcut to get the victory. Now is that against the rules, No but do I want to pay to watch fighters like that definitely not. On top of that after the match he celebrates like smothering a guy with his belly took a lot of skill. Kimbo was never in any danger of being submitted and he was never rocked. So for me Roy showed nothing other than he knew how to stall for a victory. As far as it being compared to the Thompson fight in Elite XC there's one big difference Thompson actually had him hurt. Roy just had him annoyed and frustrated because he couldn't get out from underneath his belly.

Did anyone expect Kimbo to actually win? Roy was doing good against AA until the idiot ref stood them up.

Roy takes this fight 95% of time.

Thank god that love tap finishes dont happen much in MMA. Personally, I would like to see a fighter actually beaten before the stoppage. In a real street fight, nelson would have to adjust his position to land some hard punches and risk losing position because those feather fists just arent going to get in done.

Personally, I think the rules should change to if a fighter is doing significant damage without an intelligent defense, then the fight should be stopped.
