I think it's because there's still a stupid kid inside some of them. They do it because they know from past shows they'll get away with it.

My cousin knows one of the guys on this season's TUF. He told him that the producers encouraged them to break stuff and destroy the house. Apparently they did around 100k of damage to it.

Because the non-fight footage is so boring, the producers want them to do something for ratings.
Not that it sets MMA back 10 years like the EXC card allegedly did, or anything like that.
They should just give the guys a PS III, an xbox and a Wii.
I hate the non-fighting parts of TUF. And the fact that the season consistently fucks up the scheduling of title fights.
I do like Amir, though.

I think TUF should be just like the Real World, where they can't watch tv or anything boring like that, but they can go out and do stupid things to ruin their careers. I'm all for the temptation of them going out and getting hammered two nights before the biggest fight of their lives. That'd make good TV.

Does the UFC Encourage the TUFers To Trash The House Every Season?
It was that time of year again, as the show winds down, the TUF guys destroy the house like village idiots. I was watching the show last night as they were trashing the place and my wife walks in. She watches a little MMA here and there with me and she wanted to know why in the world they were trashing that nice house. I explained to her that they do it every year and supposedly it makes for good TV. She goes, "it's not good TV, it's idiocy and I would turn it if it was me watching."
So my question is this, do you think the UFC encourages the guys to trash the house for ratings or has it just become a tradition for the guys to do it because the ones before them did it? It's ridiculous and stupid in my opinion.

Wow, that's too funny because my wife was in the room when that happened and commented similarly. I thought it was embarassing and Dana really should put an end to that type of thing. My wife said I can't ever talk crap to her about watching Real World vs Road Rules ever again if I'm going to sit through something as juvenile as TUF again. Ofcourse she was also pissed that Dana would tease those boys by asking them who they wanted to fight and then not do it. In her opinion that was just more stupidity of the show. Wifes just don't get it. I don't get the house trashing either though.

I'd think it'd be more interesting to leave something in the house for future shows, something they'd be willing to let stay. Instead, take the costs of the show, the decrease in revenue from lowering ratings and the ever increasing cost of destruction, I think it'll help dig the grave for the show.

I think that if the UFC didn't want the people to act like idiots they would give them more ways to entertain themselves. One common opinion from the people that have been on TUF is its boring as shit. I'm not going to look down on the fighters though. I'd be doing the exact same shit.

Interesting point.
I never understood why the UFC would want to contribute to the idea that the fighters are barbaric, crude and primitive.
At this point, I hope Emir wins as he seems the most calm and professional of them all.

I agree with someone else in that, once youre locked in a house for however long they are, its bound to get to ya cabin fever and all. PLUS add in alcohol, and something is bound to happen. Not only that but no women around = destruction of environment ahah. I dont know, it is kind of childish but the fact is....its a good way to let off steam after being caged up for so long (no pun intended)
