There were more Joey's in that one round by Serra than there were Andy's by BJ in that 2 round fight during TUF 5.

Serra cried Joey's name like Joey was his lover.

BJJ blackbelt my ass. I think Serra gives them away too easily if that guy is his first blackbelt. Diaz was a brown belt when to put Gomi in that gogoplata, and this guy is a blackbelt who looked pretty weak on the ground. He had the one scramble where he got on top, but other than that he was dominated by Danzig.

That was my thoughts. He got that black belt because he is a friend, not because he is qualified.

I thought that as well. He looked like crap on the ground and Danzig controlled him the entire time. Maybe he was nervous, but he didn't look good.

exactly,i didnt see anything black belt about him in his ground game.i mean that triangle came for days before it was on.he even let mac put his arm and all in place

Yeah I have to agree with all of you. I don't know what belt Danzig is but he passed Joey's guard extremely easily, and then kept getting Joey back into guard even easier.... I know schools have different requirements for black belt but that was the softest black belt work I've seen.

Ya the entire time i was watching that fight i was like is he seriously a black belt? there really trying to make serra look like the good guy and hughes look like the bad guy. all i could hear during the fight was good job joey good job and shit like that, then all i heard from hughes was ya beatin him at his own game. i just hope serra rips hughes apart.

I mean, if the guy was gassed and beat up, that is one thing.. but the guy did not show anything amazing.

And by the way, Serra looks like the asshole, not Hughes.

Serra is calling him a dick over and over again, worrying about what Hughes is going to say, complaining about Hughes. He looks like a whiney bitch (oh wait, he is one).. and that was all before the "Joey! JOEY! JOEY!" crap.

Hughes looks like a serious competitor he takes it seriously.

Serra made a huge mistake playing favouritism and partly Hughes did play him like a fool.

It was obvious the guy lacked heart and didn't show his true abilities, so I don't really see how you can criticize Serra's bjj teachings. I mean that Joe guy could've been decent at grappling and competitions, but just not have the heart to be a fighter. Either way though, I think it's obvious that he could've done much better than he actually did.
