It was a knock on Audie, not his kids. He imho has demonstrated several times in this thread and another that he has dubious moral integrity and that's what I was playing off. I'm surprised that either of you interpreted that post as directed at Audie's family because it seems quite obvious to me it was directed at him, and was somewhat in jest.

With that said, I should have been more careful and I partially agree that it was unwarrented. Due to these reasons (not to be seen as an admission I was insulting a man's family) I apologise.

I too find myself saying it from time to time but yeah, I think the term "fag: is used too loosely.
