Welcome back, long time no talk. There is an ignore option, I have used it a couple times. It doesn;t totally block that person they can still give you good or bad rep but it does not show up. It will also hide an PM they may send you. It isn't a total ignore but it is close.

I have been a member here for a while now just never really posted but I thought I would throw my view in for discussion/to be flamed!
Personally I feel that the rep system causes a problem in that newer members can't start a new thread in the main MMA discussion area, instead only being able to start new threads in "Noob Jack City". I think this may be unfair in that older or more experienced posters are just as capable of posting crap as new members. I myself feel that I have been a victim (ok, maybe a little harsh but you get the drift) of this but thats another story!
Having been an administrator on other forums, not as large as this self admittedly, I know from experience some members who have been here for a while will leave because they feel they cannot relate to newer members who they do not know as well as other older posters.
Thats the price of growth. Would you rather have a smaller, perhaps happier, community, or be one of the larger, more well known MMA Forums?

Me personally...I think people make too much out of the rep system or how long they've been a member here. Some people have more free time than others here do and post here more - but sometimes the quantity of their posts doesn't necessarily = the quality of their posts. The rep system is only one indicator of how long a person has been here, how much their posts are appreciated, or how loyal or knowledgable a MMA fan they are. Some people also are just lucky it's illegal/ improbable to kill them over the things that they post here....lol
(Like me and most of my posts for example.)
There are some better noob posters with a smaller amount of rep than others, and some better long term member posters with a truckload of rep than others here. I think it kinda all boils down to who you personally always agree with, or maybe who you can personally always get along with. The real truly annoying and/or rude as hell posters (regardless of how much rep they've racked up or how long they've been a member here) will eventually just leave once they start getting ignored a lot, or will eventually get weeded out of here by the staff.
(And hopefully I'm not on that list yet.)
But it would be better for everyone here if more people would try to remember that it's OK to disagree with other members here, but that it's not OK to resort to a vulgar personal attack on anyone when you do. That accomplishes nothing and resolves nothing - other than making the antagonist look like a big douche bag.
Which BTW, before anyone fires up their keyboard to attempt to type me to death, I've done that and got my ass in deep doo-doo around here before too in the past....and I've been warned for fighter bashing in the past too. So it's not like I'm any freakin' innocent member here either. But, besides the occasional really poor attempt at humor - I've really been trying to behave myself and not be the biggest PITA that this site has ever had as a member.
Sorta kinda. Anyway....
IMHO facts pretty much speak for themseves....and opinions can be debated pointlessly forever. And anything/everything you see or hear in the media is subject to scrutiny, and not necessarily to be completely trusted.
I think we all just need to lighten up a bit, and not take ourselves or this place and/or some of the other member's posts so damn seriously sometimes.
It's really just a website folks. Albeit a damn well-ran and popular one...but it's still just a website.
And just for the official record...that aint life threatening, and we will all survive....lol

I agree about the not taking things so seriously, however one thing I feel the need to point out is humour rarely translates well over the internet and I know from experience some things can get "lost in translation", hell I have seen things posted which loads of member found hillarious and I found my self scratching my head thinking "WTF?"....maybe i'm just stupid though!

Or maybe (especially if it was one of my lame ass attempts at humor) you were the only one smart enough here to not laugh at something so dumb.
But seriously, I agree...one person's joke can also be another one's insult. And not everything you read on the internet seems as funny or understandable as it would be if you really knew the person well, or they were saying it to you in person.
Hell....let's face it - most of my humor should probably come with a warning label. Not everyone here gets it or appreciates it either. Sometimes this place can be a really tough room for an old hack wannabe comic to work...lol
Fortunately none of you will ever have to pay a cover charge or buy a ticket to get in here.
And I wasn't born twins.
