When good forum members go bad: Omnipotus

Omnipotus. A newer member, posting in Newb Jack City.

I enjoyed some of his posts and had a friendly, entertaining exchange in one thread, none of which was taken to heart.

Within 24 hours, something happened and the shit got thick and I am assuming he has left of his own accord and/or he has been escorted to the door.

It sucks when a person can't last more than 24 hours without getting into trouble and creating havoc in what is a lax yet controlled environment. I used to think we were hard on new posters but now, I am seeing that the policy and expectations may have been necessary. They wee not in effect when I came in, but I don't think I would have had any problems with the policies had they been there at that time.

Thoughts?

I want to see the site grow, but at the expense of quality content and community.

If I had to rate this site on a scale of one to ten on how tough it is on new posters with ten being the harshest, I would give this forum a 2. This is a very polite forum IMO and is very accommodating to new members.

Omni flipped out for no reason whatsoever. No one even flamed him in THIS THREAD before he flipped out. He was like Don Quixote fighting a windmill, imagining it to be a monster. I honestly think that guy is just mentally unstable.

I didnt even see someone bashing or cursing him, what more if someone did...I think he is just a very sensitive guy, imagine if he try to post in a garbage forum like Sherdog...he might committed suicide after that.

i never saw anyone flame him ethier.maybe a few of us had alittle fun with him.but most of the newer members dont get all bent out of shape just because someone jokes around with them.

I kinda liked him for a while, you could tell he was smart/witty, but he did take people not giving reasons in that thread he created rather oddly.

What can I say .. he was an OVER-sensitive guy.

Good poster, but he needed to be "coddled".... and we do it here waaaay more than any other MMA site.

If he can't make it here, chances are he can't make it anywhere.

** There's people who hate Fedor and people who sleep in his jammies... you can't expect EVERYONE to embrace your favorite fighter (or idea of a fav. fighter)

I think this site does an above-average job of welcoming new members.
(The only place with a softer touch is Boo's mmaworld.com)
