I will agree he is a super player no doubt just do not think he is on Jordans level. I do not think he will surpass Jordan I think you can list Kobe second along with a couple of other players from the past.
Also I am suprised Paul pearce does not get more recognition around the league. IMO he is very underrated and not just because I am born and live in Massachusetts and I am a celtics fan. If he was on any other team I would be saying the same thing., He is a awesome player.

Jordan won 6 titles where he was the leader of each team (he won the finals MVP each time). This includes the one in 98 where Pippen was most definitely at non allstar levels due to his back injury. Kobe has yet to win a title where he leads the team and heck, he still only has 1 MVP compared to Jordan's 5 (and Paul really probably should have gotten it this year). He played second fiddle to Shaq for all his titles. Jordan was also much less disruptive to his own team, as Kobe has frequently been over his career.
Kobe is probably just outside the top 10 all time right now. He might get inside the top 10 in the near future, especially since the Lakers should be good for a number of years with Bynum, Gasol, Odem and the rest. But I dont see any way that he cracks the top tier of guys like Jordan, Bird, Magic, Wilt and Russell. Him having a VERY poor finals in his first shot with his own team really is going to hang over his head unless he wins a bunch more, especially since he was thought to have the superior team behind him ahead of time.

As much as it pains me to say it (a pain, I might add, I've drowned with several shots of Cuervo Gold), congratulations Boston Celtics. You guys played your asses off and we didn't. Frankly, you deserved to win. Kudos.
My only wish now is that you guys stay good enough next year so we can have the opportunity to kick your asses in the rematch. When we get Bynum back for a whole year, and when we dump Radmanovic for a 6'8"-6'10" rebounding/defensive beast to come off the bench, as well as let the bench guys learn to play smarter D, the Lakers' time to shine will come in '09.
God damn, it's been a tough year for me. The Patriots lose the Super Bowl (as L.A. doesn't have an NFL team, I adopted the Patriots as soon as the Rams moved), UCLA loses in the Final Four, Chelsea loses the Champions League final, my beloved Lakers lose in the Finals, and I've lost my job, it's no wonder I'm so content to drink such cheap tequila to drown my sorrows. And yes, I'm very drunk as I type this. I'm typing very deliberately at the moment. At this rate, I almost hope my beloved Dodgers don't make it to the playoffs, just so I don't have to suffer through this sort of pain again this year. But God hates me, so that's why I've had to suffer this year.
WAR Lakers!!!!!!! We lost this year, but St. Kobe will lead us to the promised land now that we have felt the sting of a humiliating defeat. Once again, congrats to the Celtics. I suppose Boston needed this to alleviate the sting of the Patriots losing. Just be warned; enjoy it while it lasts.
*takes a further shot....or three*

Let us all please stop the Jordan/Kobe comparisons!
Jordan would have never let his team get embarrassed by 39 points in the finals. Kobe failed to lead his team, set any type of tone, or even be a factor.
Jordan has dismantled some of the best defenses ever, sometimes singlehandedly, but most of all, he knows how to win!
