Yeah Staph and another very common thing to pick up off matts is Ring Worm. Thats why its always good to disinfect before each use. Anyone see the more recent news with all those wrestlers up in Minnesota that were spreading skin to skin herpes? That shit sucks and I'm glad that didnt happen to me when I was in wrestling.

ya def get wrestling mats, they would be way better than puzzle mats and good for grappling too,you can usually get a good price for used ones, but if they r extremly old and used they will probably be nasty and smell and be dirty. that smith machine is awesome, how much was that? u have basically everything inside that smith machine, you now should get adjustable dumbells and not the whole rack ones which will cost a fortune, get a powerblock or something similar. u should also get a leg up machine where u can also do pullups, dips, puchups. and maybe a sit up board. not a big fan of medicine balls but if u got the money why not, get a tv to watch while ur in there.

I had an idea to lay carpet down, (my parents have a few rolls) and then lay puzzel mats over it, anyone know of anyone who has done this?

Would it be a good idea? I am having a hard time trying to find Wrestling mats so i figured this might be the next best thing.
