Default Messed up my back.

Not sure how in the holy hell I did it, I don't remember a particular moment that I hurt it, but I woke up Sunday and I barley could get out of the bed. So I figured I had just tweeked something rolling but I hadn't rolled since the past Thursday and it didn't hurt Friday or Saturday and I the only other thing that I had done semi-stressful is weeding the garden and cutting grass on Saturday.

Anyway, I gave it to this morning and when I woke up it was worse than ever, so I called my doctor and made an appt. for this afternoon.

Well I went and she felt on it and had me raise my legs ect. and then sent me to get an X-ray. Anyway, she said that I just had a really bad pulled muscle in my back that is actually compressing my spine at the very bottom just a little bit and it was showing up on the X-ray....

So she gave me a shot of Taradol (Hell if I know what it is.lol) and two prescriptions one for Voltaren 75mg(Which is basically a strong ass Anti-inflammatory) and one for Metaxolone (Which is a muscle relaxer) and sent me on my happy way.

My question is that this is the first time I have injured by back and wanted to know if anyone had any advice?

She said that the worse thing I could do for it is just lay around, she said that the more I move around, walk, get up and down, ect.ect.ect. the faster it would heal.

Anyone had any experince with any back problems that could give some advice and does anyone know anything about the drugs that she gave me(even the shot)?

Thanks guys.

I'm no doctor, but my guess would be that a pulled muscle is better than any kind of disk slippage. Yuck. I've had lower back problems since I was young (Taught myself golf young-Not a good idea). Just have to stretch before any activity......& situps! Not a whole lot of help. Good Luck.

Ive fucked my back up more times in the last 6 months then I have my whole 9 combined season of football and rugby. The toradol shot Ive heard of, I guess they have pills of it too, they gave me that the second time I hurt my lower back. The shots basically stop the pain now by this monster shot of relaxants, the whole Relaxant/Anti-Inflammatory is pretty standard with acute back pains.

I REALLY hurt my upper back earlier this month...(funny story) Dont ask me how or why it happened, but I had braced myself with one arm on my chair, and bent over to unplug my xbox, when I pulled it I dropped to my knees in this unreal pain. I didnt go to the doctor, just took some muscle relaxants and anti inflammatories from the previous two times I went to see someone.

The most retarded part was the more I tried to stretch it out, even though I felt like i was ging to burst out crying it hurt so bad, it would feel better when I finally laid down for bed. If it's compressing your spine you may want to avoid that for right now. What I did the first few times, and I'd probably recommend it using my obvious medical knowledge...is before bed take a hot shower after you take your pills, just let the heat work on your back, then go to bed. Once it starts to get more bareable, try stretching it out. Nothing HUGE but have a go at regular stretches liek if you strained your back at the gym.

A Site for Sore Backs:Exercise Some goos stretches right there depending on how your back feels and your pain threshold. Just be careful doing them , and for gods sake dont over do it, you just want to make sure its loosened up so you can do shit without whining all day like i did.

*EDIT* Yeah, just to reiterate what the doctor said, dont sit around nursing it all day either, it'll hurt like a bitch now, but will be better alot sooner if you just get up and try to walk around and shit. Get the blood flowing in or around the area, try not to nurse it (like limp around if its affecting our walking) too much

inversion table helps a lot. I used one when I pulled 4 muscles in my back I was better in 2 days. Yoga also works to stretch it and loosen

Sounds odd, but strengthening abs helps take some strain off back muscles, I used to have a bad back and ab work helped a ton.

Sundance, tell us how you back is. I've got some suggestions. I've dealt with a bad lower back for over 40 years. I have some ideas.
