It would be nice to get some naturally bigger guys like Shaq, Dwight Howard etc. They are very athletic, 7'0 tall, and strong as hell. The only problem is, they always end up in basketball or football.

Can people please refrain from asking about a fake wrestler coming to MMA, there are tons of real athletes that can be considered. Khali has a disease that would keep him from doing any serious sport but he would probably do as well as Sapp or HMC at first.

Come on, guy.

I've never heard of this guy before but one look at his google images... and... well, shit, how else can I put this? The guy looks straight up deformed. Brock was a collegiate wrestler, that's why it worked out for him.

If the Great khali has weak knees, causing him to barely even be able to perform his WWE duties, then I get it; MMA would be the worst thing for him. I didn't realize he had bad knees; I was basing my assessment off of how huge he is. What I was responding to Harlem's clean sweep of those involved in fake wresling in general.

Might as well bring back Emanuel Yarbrough too.

Big guys are usually immobile and uncoordinated. Andre the giant was pretty uncoordinated.....Hulk Hogan is pretty uncoordinated too. There aren't too many big guys that can move. Look how much work it took basketball player Yao Ming ready for the NBA. There was some other 7+ foot guy from China or Korea that tried the same thing a couple years after Yao and didn't make it cause he had horrible footwork.

Shaq is pretty agile, but still has footwork problems. If you saw his exhibition fight with Oscar De La Hoya, when he was sparring with a HW, he had fast hands, and could keep the guy at a good distance, but when he got hit, his legs got sloppy.

Even looking at HW boxing. Lennox Lewis was the first really big HW, since then we have had the Klitschko brothers. They have tried to do things like this in boxing before with fighters like Michael Grant. Trainers, Teddy Atlas and Buddy McGirt, thought they had created a top fighter. But he always had problems with footwork and balance.

A lot of big guys are filled out evenly, they aren't proportional. I think that's why we are seeing a lot of ex football players, turn fighters now a days. Because they have great balance, good footwork and good gauge of distance....the rest can be taught.

i dont know alot about his background as far as training any mma or wrestling or anything, but i just dont think he would do that good in mma,a big guy like him is slow, and leg kicks would be devastating to him .i just dont see him being able to do much in mma

Semmy Schilt anyone????

Shaq had poor footwork because he's a lifetime basketball player, not a boxer.

Lennox lewis was not the first big HW (Jess Willard/Primo Carnera), Michael Grant had a glass chin and was cheated by a hold-and-hit in his championship fight.

Andre the Giant was amazingly coordinated until his joints began to fail, Hogan highly coordinated too.

Yi Jianlian, Wang Zhizhi, and Yao all had fine footwork, especially Yi, it was the physicality of the NBA compared to international play that beat them up.

Now, all that being said, the subject of this thread is ridiculous. Khali isn't even remotely a top-level athlete. He's just big and freaking ugly. The issue has been mentioned repeatedly before, the top tier large athletes are scooped up for football and basketball at first sight.

Agreed! Maybe if MMA was as lucrative as other athletic endeavors maybe we see more of them fighting.

That’s likes you and me going hippo hunting, we shoot it. Then it falls on top of us. Instead of using our combined strength to lift it off of us and free ourselves. We spend the next 5 1/2 years arguing over whose bright idea it was to go hippo hunting!

Khali is almost to the point of being crippled. He can barely get around much less fight. He looks amazing, however, he can not perform whatsoever.

Jose Canseco would beat him at this point. I like Khali though.

Then again, who knows. There was a report that he and Big Show got into a brawl not too long ago and that Khali handled Big Show, who trained to be a boxer for a while there.
