Default Watching the Machida/Shogun fight without sound.

Alright first off I originally thought Shogun won this fight but to be fair I was drunk and listening to the biased commenting. Now after watching the fight without sound I honestly think Machida won. I clearly saw Machida land much cleaner strikes throughout the first 4 rounds. The majority of the strikes shogun landed the first 4 rounds were a couple leg kicks and quite a few knees to the legs in the clinch. The only way I can see anyone saying Shogun won any of these rounds decisively is if you give him points for failed takedown attempts. Another thing I noticed is whenever Machida landed a good shot Shogun would throw his arms up in the air. I do not know if this gave people an illusion that Machida was not landing good strikes but I seriously think Machida won the fight. I suggest everyone watch the fight again without sound.

I haven't gotten around to doing that yet, but you are right. Without Rogan and Goldberg jabbering in your ear is the only way to form your own opinion.

And alot of the fighters watching from ringside thought Shogun won to and they didnt hear announcers .. but i do agree sometimes i fall victim to the announcers but when the key card comes up i kinda tune them out

I watched it without sound and would honestly vote this fight a draw. I do not think Machida did enough to win, but I also do not feel that Shogun beat the champ. Its a fine line. If Shogun wants to complain do not let it go to the scorecards next time.

There are a lot of professional fighters that thought Shogun won and they didnt hear Rogan or Goldberg, even Dana White thought Mauricio was the winner.

I understand your argument Pashak, but without sound, I had it as a draw. With sound, Shogun won 4 rounds.

I still wish it was ruled a no contest, in my opinion 3 of the 5 rounds were too close to call

I agree w/ the idea of the draw. I've been watching the fight religiously since it took place. I'm still up in the air. I just say we seal the record and wait for Machida-Rua II but on free TV only.

That’s likes you and me going hippo hunting, we shoot it. Then it falls on top of us. Instead of using our combined strength to lift it off of us and free ourselves. We spend the next 5 1/2 years arguing over whose bright idea it was to go hippo hunting!

I watched the fight in portuguese, and to me, it looked like lyoto took the first 2 rounds, and sho took the last 2, with the 3rd round kind of close.
They both said they thought they won the fight and played it safe in the 3rd round,
I lost some respect for these guys after I heard that.. blow for blow, till that horn go.. thats how I see it..
These guys get paid every well to knock the others head off, so I think they sholdnt stop till it is over. Let this be a quick lesson to everyone dependant on the judges....
