Touch gloves or you get knocked out: what they forgot to teach Kimbo

I remember maybe a year or so back a thread about touching gloves before a fight. It seems to me people were explaining that it is very bad luck to not touch gloves before a fight. When I was watching EliteXC last weekend with my buddy, who is more or less a casual fan, I told him right off the bat Kimbo (who he loves of course) had alerady lost the fight as soon as he refused to touch gloves. I was of course just kidding, but lo and behold, 14 second KO.

Anyways I was just hoping all the people with good knowledge and memories for these things could throw out all the examples of people regretting holding back on the pre-fight glove touch. For some reason I'm thinking Cro-Cop Gonazaga as an example but I'm not certain on that. If you have videos to add even better.

On a side-note, you think Bas would have warned Kimbo about this. Talk about an oversight.

Cro Cop DID touch gloves with Gonzaga... regardless of what everyone is trying to portray.

Gonzaga extended his hand.. Cro Cop looked him dead in the eye... Gonzaga's hand is still extended... Herb Dean says "Touch Gloves" and then Cro Cop and Gonzaga touch gloves.


It pisses me off to no end that people act like that wasn't what happened.

I know you said you weren't certain about that one, but I am just venting lol. I've seen gifs altered and pictures and all types of shit that makes it like Cro Cop didn't touch gloves when he was prompted to, when he most certainly did.

The people who do skew the facts are morons...

I myself as in me, would like to hear more stories about this. Hell we should have a thread with stories about mma in general, just like things that happened that was ironic or strange or backstage, or other cool things that fighters did, I always end up jumping into a thread and having to ask what so and so are talking a bout.

The first thing that came to my mind was Cro Cop vs Gonzaga but somehting in me wasn't definite about it. I think his mind was just somehwere else when they were asked to touch gloves. I know he typicaly doen't touch gloves anytime during the fight, even in the beginning of the final round but don't like that much either.

I remember that "Crazy Horse" dude, Charles Barnett or whatever his name is. didn't initally touch gloves with Villasenior on one of the ShoXC cards but the ref forced him to show some class and he eventually did but pretty much got his ass kicked, threw the towel in then ran out the ring right after.

Those ghetto guys don't seem to have much class.

I think it just shows poor sportsmanship if you don't touch gloves.
