Default What if the Superstars of UFC are gone?

What if the Superstars of the UFC are gone or never existed. No Bj, GSP, Couture, Hughes, Griffin, Franklin (no current or has-been champs)

Who are your favorite fighters in each weight class and why?

HW: Cheick Kongo-I wish he would let loose a little more with his striking as his background is Kickboxing. His ground game is coming along but still needs improvement.

LHW: Rashad Evans-I have liked this guy since TUF and taking on all the HW. I love underdogs so each week he was an underdog. Even now he gets zero respect. (and shoulder movement is not showboating it is a distraction in boxing)

MW: This is the toughest one but I still like Marquardt. He seems to be all around a good fighter. Had a tough one against Silva but can get better and smarter.

WW: Who knows I like a few fighters for different reasons. Diego and Koscheck work hard but I do not like personally. Fighting wise I really like Anthony Johnson. I really believe he has a good head on his shoulders. A little flashy but has killer speed and power. He is really young so I can root for him for a long time hopefully.

LW: Joe Lauzon- I should go with Florian but I really do not like guy. He justs seems a bit too cocky but he can back it up. Joe is young and can punch hard as hell. Since being with BJ his BJJ has become much better and that heel hook against Bradley proved that he is close to getting really good at it.

Well, if there were no superstars (current or has-been champs as you put it) then there wouldn't have been a UFC champ in 90 events lol, but I'll play along.

LW: Edgar
WW: Fitch
MW: Okami
LHW: Lyoto
HW: Lesnar

I only brought it up because I was thinking many of the stars will be retiring soon so who would I root for if they are no longer there.

i think UFC is doing a pretty good job creating new stars. On Inside MMA they talked about this last week. They mentioned the biggest draws in the UFC are on the downward end of their careers, except maybe Courtre. (ortiz, hughes, liddel) And people like Rampage, Forest and GSP are going to be the huge stars of tomorrow.

Exactly, so that is why I am asking. UFC is trying to make stars but they do not compare to the current stars. I do not see many nut-huggers for up and coming fighters. It seems there may be a huge let down in the market once the big guys retire.
