UFC HW Division Debacle
As all of you probably already know the UFC's heavy weight divsion is a joke right now Big NOG is head and shoulders above his competion in this weight class. Outside of Couture that is, who is still in a legal purgatory.(i still think Nog takes that fight)
With that said what would you suggest the UFC to bring in new blood?
with barrnett not taking a pay cut could the UFC try to Bring him in?
I doubt a heavy weight tuf season would do much to help but maybe deepen the pool alittle.
Are there any light heavy weights that could step up and challenge for the title liddell, Sokou or even hamil i think could do well in the hw division
Just wanna get some outside opinions
If this is a repeat thread my bad

I'm not too concerned with the HW division's depth in the first place. I find it to be the least entertaining division out there. Most of the competitors aren't in shape to go 3 or 5 rounds and that makes me yawn. There's just not a big supply of huge guys that are in shape. Most big dudes out there need to get their cardio up, and that means shedding weight - dropping down to 205.
But hey, that's just all my opinion. I just don't like HW fights compared to the rest of the divisions. I'm not saying that there aren't a handful of very talented guys fighting at HW, but the division's been pretty shallow for a while now.

I'm sorry, did you say two years ago? What's your point? Plus, we're talking UFC.

You said that you didn't find heavyweight fights exciting
You said there arne't alot of heavyweights out there that are in good cardio shape
So I said that it is obvious that you didn't watch Pride's heavyweight division in its heyday. Those great heavyweights haven't just retired....

I don't see the problem. UFC has 1 top teir HW, and a bunch of overhyped guys. It sounds pretty simple to me.
If Barnett won't accept a cut from Affliction, what makes anyone think he'd dare sign a Ultimately Fucked-up Contract (UFC)?
The HW division is just fine. Nog only wants to fight twice a year, and he has the perfect chance to do that. Mir gets next shot, then Werdum, then Kongo or Herring, then Lesnar, then Carwin, then Valasquez. I don't see the issue. The table is set. it doesn't even matter the records at this point. That's obvious. Lesnar loses to Mir and still gets to step up in comp? Of course this is until Dana decides

I've watched all of big HW pride fights and I did enjoy them. I just figured we were speaking about the topic at hand, the UFC HW division, not MMA in general.

Generally speaking I agree with Frag. I think that unless you have two top10 fighters against each other, heavyweights are a snoozefest. But there are always exceptions. Like Hardonk vs Sanchez. This proves that the UFC doesn't necessarily need top10 talent to put on a good show.
And with the signing of Cro Cop, I dont think they are about to shell out cash to try to bolster their division. But if they did, it would be for an exciting striker because they already have a bunch of "ground game specialists".

You can count Barnett out of him signing with the UFC. Tito has a better chance of re-signing and getting a title shot before Barnett gets signed to a prelim fight.
Barnett hates the UFC and Dana hates Barnett more than he does Tito. The UFC is out of that equation.
As for their HW division, if Lesnar beats Herring, look for him to fight Werdum for number one contender status. It's that bad.
I do think a 16 man TUF HW season would help. The UFC's LW division was non-existent until they showcased the LWs.

The thread is really asking who the UFC should bring in to the heavyweight division, so I assumed that they wouldn't bring in someone they already had?
