I believe you mean what style of MARTIAL ARTS, since Karate is a martial art and BJJ isn't Karate. Either way I think the best martial art you can learn for mma is russian sambo, greco-roman wrestling is really good to. And I personally practice and love judo, but if your fighting without the gi and training with it you're gonna have some problems when you fight.

sorry but that isnt what i meant i meant karate like theirs shotokan kyoushin if i spelled that right those things

and also greco roman and sambo arent really widely taught (not trying to be a smart ass or nothing so please dont take it that way)

but if you have suggestions for karate that is widely taught ie. taekwondo then let me know if it translates well into mma

I see what you mean now, I would recommend either Kempo Karate or TKD, but if you really want something that will help you in mma go straight to the source, muay thai or any other kickboxing discipline, BJJ or wrestling. And as I said before, you should consider judo as well, its so much tougher than most people think, and have a strong judo base will sure as hell help you stay on your feet if your fighting in mma.

hope that helped bud.

Kenpo/American Kenpo
TKD or
Shotokan would probobly work best
but i personaly feel that Chin Na is the best bet besides BJJ or Judo, but is not THAT widely known

I like Isshinryu because it's a practical form with no BS high kicks and a lot of realistic strikes and techniques. It has it's kata and forms which don't aplly like any other form but it works for me.

Go to the Shotokan gym. I'm no practicioner but as Lyoto has proved, some of the judo/jiu-jitsu style throws and foot sweeps taught are very effective in MMA. The emphasis on fast and precise strikes is good too, but yeah, go do some muay thai if you want to learn how to kick ass
