I gotta agree with this just from empirical evidence. Other styles may enter the picture, but as of right now I think Shotokan takes the cake.

Well, the kenpo i take translates to taking a hit and keep coming foward with smart simple punches.
and those who dont know, kenpo is offancive and is primarily a puncing art, then grappling then kicking, so translates great for mma

Nightridaz: I gained a lot of good in standup fighting..realistic, practical techniques.

Complaints: crap for sweeps and that's at Ikkyu/one step before black belt level.

TKD is a pretty form..but impractical. if you can get that close to throw a beautiful, swirling high kick, you can surely kill the attacker with a kickto the knee, dropping him to the floor leading to death from above.

i would have to say sho ching loe ping sing trong-loie mui to mesh.

You get to be a black belt in that and Fedor is going to shit his pants when you step into the ring

Just to echo some of the other guys who have already posted. Karate may not be the best way to improve your striking. If available in your area I would go for Muay Thai, if your heart is set on Karate then try and find a style that doesn't concentrate to much on trational moves (IMO), but more on practical moves. For example the Wado Ryu I used to study focused mostly on Katas which had very little practical use (eg there were jumping kicks that were designed to knock an oppentent off a horse - not much use to me).
