Well first of all anybody who thinks Sherk didn't roid up is delusional imo because I thought it was pretty obvious that he did, that he got nailed, and he tried to use the same excuses Shawne Merriman did, but both failed.
As far as the debate between Palma and kc56, I definitely agree with Palma. BJ Penn is obviously a way better fighter then GSP, he's a better striker, has better BJJ, a better chin, better technique, and is more flexible. On top of that he's fought guys like Machida at 205. I think Takanori Gomi would destroy GSP, GSP would have a real hard time getting him down and Gomi being the wrestler killer would brutalize him standing.
BJ Penn kicked GSP's ass when they fought, all GSP did was take him down and lay on him after BJ gassed. BJ is a fool for not training harder but he obviously thought he was going to walk through GSP, and for the first round and a half he did. If they fought 10 times BJ would beat him 8, and luckily after BJ beats Sherk Dana said he can have a rematch with GSP, and I look forward to watching BJ destroy GSP. All GSP now is a wrestler, he is gun shy standing, he has good ground control but has no shot of subbing BJ, all he can do is lnp a victory over him. Where as BJ can knock him out or tap him, so I think that answers the question who is a better fighter. BJ would have a way better shot against Anderson then GSP would.

And you are certainly entitled to your opinion, but I disagree with everything you said. GSP has always been a takedown / GnP guy. He also did not just take him down and lay on him. Even though he didn't pass the guard, he was very aggressive from top control.
As for him "kicking GSP's ass the first time"? We will have to agree to disagree there as well as the rematch.
I think that while Penn may have improved his cardio since that fight, GSP has as well. IMO he has also improved his ground game as far as passing guard and GnP. When talking to Penn fans, it seems that his cardio is the only thing that was ever in question as to him being the greatest fighter in the world. Well, GSP beat him when he was supposed to be unbeatable and at the top of his game. We will have to see what happens next time around. I look forward to all the sig/av bets I will get offered. Sorry man, but Palma has first dibbs on a bet with me if he wants it.
If Penn hadn't caught his nose (cut him with his thumb), I would hope we wouldn't even be having this argument. Those were the only things that Penn did to out-damage St. Pierre, which is the one main thing he had going his way here.
You say "Penn got tired or he would have won" I say GSP adjusted his game and got the win.
I look forward to a rematch.
Just some food for thought, what is going to happen when eventually, somebody does find BJ's chin? Will this MMA forum implode?
By the way, in case you didn't keep up, Shawne Merriman passed 19 of his 20 drug tests, (3 of which were since his 1 positive) sat out for 4 games, came back, was still a beast, looked the same, and was All-Pro, selected for the Pro-Bowl, and led the league in sacks.

Sean Sherk...just sayin'...
Just something I saw on Cage Potato - MMA News, Knockout Videos, and the Hottest Ring Girls that I found kind of interesting.

Maybe it’s a bad angle, but is the Muscle Shark looking…I don’t know…narrower to you?

For added reference, this is Sherk seconds before his fight with Florian...
All politics aside, there isn't much denying that he does look a tad smaller these days...

Yeah he deffinetly does look quite a bit leaner.

Yeah, this argument has been going on in another thread. This one picture of Sherk was chosen because he looked smallest. It was compared to one of him flexing at a weigh-in when he fought at 170. They posted it as Roided and non-roided.
Personally, I would love to see another picture of Sherk now to compare them.
We will see come weigh-ins.

Here's a pretty good article from MensHealth on how to spot a 'roid user. Using their formula I could point out a LOT of UFC fighters (not to mention the entire NFL) as roid'ers.

A quick breakdown of how long various forms of steroids are detectable in your system.
To be diplomatic, I'm not saying he was on steroids for the Florian fight...or I suppose the Franca fight for that matter...but when timed right, a person could use steroids up to just a few weeks before a bout and still come up "clean" in the post-fight drug test.

Being ripped isn't the issue... having tons of muscle mass when you train at that level is the issue. Don't you think it's odd that for fighter under 170 there are no other fighters with a body like Sherk had?
If you train to fight you will lose muscle mass just like if you train for marathon running... the only way to keep it is to do something illegal.
