This thread is almost better than the "sexiest fighter" thread. I vote for it to be moved to noobjack.

Women reffing male MMA fights? No way. It has nothing to with their ability but do you want to see some 120lb ref in between Kongo and Herring? Would a female ref have gotten Brock's attention when he was smashing Frank Mir in the face in head? No. I think you need to be a man to force certain things to happen.

I have no problem with them being a ref in a female MMA match but as for guys? No.

Not to say that a good many women couldn't kick the shit out of most men on the planet...I dunno, its a dicey issue.

Female refs for female MMA, though, I'm all for that...no reason not to be.

There is always exceptions to the rule.

I think a woman with the body structure of China could, but those are few and far between.

It's just a safety factor.

I just don't see a 120lb woman pulling apart two 250lb men.
I agree w/ all of your thoughts. I'm not a sexist person in any way but there is just no way you could have most women ref a high level mma match. what would happen if there were a 125lb woman reffin the haynes vs cummo fight and haynes decided to take her down and gnp her in his half conscious stuper? Had there been a female referee for the babalu/heath fight, I fear that david heath may in fact be dead right now(j/k but u guys know what i mean).

Definately a good idea for the ladies matches but the mens are just not a viable option.

I for one think female ref's in womens mma is shortly around the corner. As for female ref's in men's mma, well they do it in the nba so it wouldnt be blasphemy to bring up the topic but i dont see this happening anytime inthe short or distant future.

She'd have to be pretty goddamn big to handle the Brock or Kongo's of the world. If not it'll look like a really fucked up bang bus episode as she's trying to get between the guys to break up the action.

LOL. I'm willing to bet that if she is that big there's a chance it would look a bit odd as well.

Id say yes but there would have to be more qualifications that a normal ref would have. Like a certain size for a certain weight class.

I know people like to bash Herb Dean, but I am telling you as a MMA ref he is very good.
If there was a raking he be in my top five.
You should see some of the refs in smaller promotions.
TKO has some awful ref's, Yves is the only good ref there.
