yea, considering i'll be heading on out there with a grad degree and limited cash until i score a job, i mostly want to find something that'll sustain me but where i'll actually feel like i learn something.
that's awesome. from what i've seen, bravo's style lends itself real well to teaching.

well depending where you live in LA you can drive a ways and train with JJ Machado's gym. Its in Tarzana but you might find it worth it to train with a legend. (buddy trains up there with him, says its amazing)

sounds like an awesome opportunity, but figure i'll need to start off moderately before I jump into training with legends.
just kinda getting stoked to give it a shot.

definitley 10th Planet JJ
or if you want something more MMA related with a mix of techniques
Hayastan Grappling (BJJ/Judo/Sambo)
Hayastan Grappling Challenge - Home
highly recommended. guyz like Parisyan, Gamburyan and Mitichyan started out here.

wrong way to think bro. train with the best to make yourself the best, no matter where you go, if its a legit BJJ gym you will be getting your ass kicked all the time, especially at the beginning. but thats how it goes..
to train under a great coach and BJJ player, it'll enhance your game because he'll be passing on to you what he knows.

10th more likely.
i have a buddy of mine looking into a couple of places he went to way back in the day.
but seems with the overwhelming support here for 10th planet, I need to at least check it out.

Completely see where you're coming from man. But what I am saying here is not so much being afraid to get my ass kicked, but rather coming up with a long term plan to train. I'm mostly looking at it from a hobby standpoint/way to get back into shape.
The training under great coaches is more of a practicality sort of thing (i.e. it'll run me up a few bills when cash flow will be rough).
But yea, I completely get what you're saying.
Believe me, I'm all about going balls to the wall. But in this scenario, I want to start off smart.
