Default Is mma a sport?

I was thinking to myself of olympic sports. No martial arts are really considered sports; the only art in olymics is gymnastics. Back in roman and greek times fighting was never a part of sports in the olympics. Budo is considered a discipline by the olympics and I would have to agree with that for the mma. I think it is potentially dangerous at calling mma a sport if you are considering it with any olympic sport I think the same holds true for school sports. Wrestling is a sport, but mma can feed off the sport so to speak and turn it around into a non-sport disciplined way of living. Mma to me is like not having one uniform but lots of different disguises that you can manipulate at your enemy.

Well since wrestling, boxing, muay thai and to a degree judo are all sports. and since Pankration was one of the earliest Olympic sports, I say yes.

Yeah adding together a whole bunch of things considered sports at the olympic or professional level and then saying thats not a sport is just foolish.

Default Modern olympics vs ancient olympics

Modern olympics were first held in greece and ancient olympics were held in greece, there is a huge gap in time here and in participation the judgemnet is yours.

Meh this thread by itself isn't trolling. Although there are some partial IP matches going on here that I am keeping an eye on.

TAEKWONDO? Who is this dude? Get the heck outta here. Coming to an MMA board and then questioning its legitimacy as a sport.

Either way there are current Olympic sports which are large contributors to current MMA (Wrestling, Boxing, Judo, TKD, etc) and there are ancient Olympic sports (Pankration) which are very close to MMA (if not the original MMA).

Seem like every so often you get some tard that comes here and says the most absolute dumest shit.

It's obvious that this is not ancient greece and it's obvious that Boxing, Wrestling, TKD, and Judo, are all considered sports and are apart of the Olympics so why shouldn't MMA (a sport) be considered as well?

It could be worse. I saw a post yesterday on Sherdog where the guy said that it was bullshit that the Yarrenoka event showed live at 6am because that meant the fighters had to wake up at like 3am to go fight and that is just unfair.
