Default What if..? Fedor vs Couture

I was thinking about this fight, and we all know fedor is the baddest man on the planet, but could randy stand a chance with his greco-roman wrestling? now dont start huffing and puffing and calling me an idiot just yet...i know fedor's sambo >>>>> randy's greco-roman but we all saw how easy it was for randy to take timmah down..and yea tim is definitely not in fedor's league, but still.....if randy came into the fight weighing about 223 or so...and im guessing fedor would come in around the same weight..maybe 230 or a little over, not sure, is it possible for randy to out muscle fedor at any point in the fight? even if randy got top position, it would be very difficult for him not to get submitted or sweeped, but if randy could avoid submissions and fedor's gnp, could he stand a chance? i say 9 times out of 10 probably not, but try to be a little open minded here....thoughts?

edit: i dont want to be one of those douche bags who creates a thread and then doesnt even discuss his own thread, but ill be in class in a little while for pretty much the rest of the day, but i look forward to seeing the educated opinions later on.

I think you said it all yourself, randy has a chance but 9 times out of 10 fedor is the winner.

Personally I think stylistically Couture matches up better with Fedor than Cro-Cop, and when it comes down to it other than Barnett, and maybe Arlovski, Couture's one of the only heavyweights of his era left that could possibly defeat Fedor.

I agree with that, I would also throw Werdum in that mix...but Randy's style works well with Fedor.

i use to think Kharitonov would have a chance against Fedor, but that injury to the shoulder really messed things up for him.

i dont see how everyone thinks fedors sambo is greater than randy wrestling...he was an olympic alternate...his skills are very good and his wreslting could match very well with fedor...fedor never faught anyone with randys skill in wrestling and randy like fedor is the master of the gamplan...i take fedor in this fight 9 out of 10 times but it will not be easy for fedor to deal with randys wrestling or gameplan...

Uhhh...no! An impossiblity. Barnett controled Randy pretty well, Fedor would give Randy a stroke.

I think people are forgetting what Fedor can do and how dominant he is. He needs to fight Barnett and beat the fuck out of him so people would stop giving other fighters chances.

I think it really depends on how motivated Randy is. I believe when Randy is the long underdog, he can beat anyone in the world. Just look at his fights with Sylvia, Ortiz, Belfort I and Liddell I. He was supposed to lose all of those fights, but was dominant in pretty much all of them. But let's face reality for a second, Couture is 43 years old. Today Fedor wins by the start of the fourth round, but in Randy's prime, I'll actually take Couture in the fight.
