Iron Mike Tyson vs Smokin' Joe Frazier

VS
Both had an amazing combo of speed and power, who would win?
My vote.. Smokin' Joe

would be a sweet fight, both have very strong punches that could end the fight instently, i love joe frazier but id have to give it to the tyson in the late 80's

I think Tyson would have ovewhelmed Frazier just as Foreman did. It's just too much power for some fighters to deal with.

I think Joe Frazier was the better boxer
Both had an amazing combo of speed and power
Fraziers movements were better, and I dont think Tysons chin would be able to handle Fraziers power
The only man to knock out Frazier, hits harder then Tyson.

tyson has faced a lot of technically better boxers and look what happened to them... but frazier might be a different story, we'll never know the anwser to this question unfortunately.

I picked Tyson because of his explosiveness and speed. Of course, for the time period, Frazier was considered fast and explosive as well for an infighter, but I think Tyson was a bit more. Anyway, it'd be a hell of an infight, neither fighter would back down from the other, but I think Tyson'd be able to get his punches off a bit quicker than Frazier would. However, Frazier was a machine who went 14+ rounds with Ali 3 times. Tyson would win anywhere between rounds 9-12. Anything past that, and Frazier gets it done.

I really do not think you can compare the two. Frazier is hands down the better boxer and would make Tyson look like a fool. I mean Frazier had wars back in his day with great fighters. All the "great" fighters Tyson fought beat him badly. Tyson while he had a lot of KO power and was a scary individual, fought a bunch of nobodies when he was on his KO rampage (Tony Tucker.... yea). Were as Frazier fought guys like Ali, Norton and Foreman. And outside of Foreman (who hits a lot harder then Tyson) he hung with them all. Tyson started to lose when he ran into guys that weren't afraid of his KO power and willing to trade with him. I am pretty sure Frazier wouldn't fear Tyson at all.
Frazier by KO in the 7th.

Frazier never fought Ken Norton, but I get what you're trying to say. I wonder why they never fought, more than anyone, Norton fought a who's who of great boxers during the 70s, and he himself had a highly competitive trilogy with Ali.
