Bj Penn vs. GSP or Hughes
he has the potential to beat hughes we know that from the 1st fight and winning the 2nd fight only to get injured, so if he refought hughes would he win? and vs. gsp as good and well rounded gsp is, gsp can stand with the best and grapple with the best, but bj has the advantage at both, he can also stop early takedowns, but we know that gsp trains crazy and if bj trained his ass off and came in with good cardio who would win?

on Paper BJ >>> both
In the ring He has the potential to beat both, I think he'd beat Hughes in a rematch and it can go either way between him and GSP but GSP is at a more natural weight then BJ is at 170 so.. give GSP the edge.

I don't really like bj or hughes, but they both have a lot of talent. especially bj. If BJ fought hughes, bj would win (as long as he was in shape and didn't get injured). I believe that GSP would beat bj, not easily, but decisively. GSP never fought anybody like bj before that fight. He fought hughes, but that doesn't compare with a guy like bj. GSP is a quick-learner and is a very determined guy. I think that GSP has learned from their last fight.
P.S. hasn't this topic been done to death?

I think he'd have a better chance against Matt in a third fight then GSP in a second fight.

i was thinking the same thing...before ufc 58 gsp had never faught anyone like bj penn...and he knew it was a hard and close fight, i think this time around gsp is alot more prepared and woops bj more decisevly

GSP BJ 2 would still be close
BJ has the better ground game
There pretty even in striking, what makes it close on the feet is BJ slipping punches and his accuracy, GSP has more power and speed
GSP has better cardio
BJ can still go 5 rounds
GSP is at a more natural weight though

I'd also say that GSP is the better wrestler.
Punching is about even, but GSP has really good kicks, knees, and elbows.

So does BJ, but BJs boxing is damn near perfect there just two different styles of striking i'd say there almost dead even there
GSP has better wrestling for sure, BJ has good takedown D and much better BJJ
GSP and BJ are as even as they come, thus why there fight went to a split.. 2nd time around I think it would go to another close decision and im not picking a winner cuz any answer could be a right answer.

I know bj has great takedown d, but GSP made it look almost easy at some points of their fight to take him down.

yeah thisw fight is soo even its probably one of the best fights on paper and one of the best fights ever...
but i dont think bj can go 3 let alone 5 rounds at gsp's pace...bj couldnt go 3 rounds at his pace the first time and now that gsp knows wat he'l be facing itl be even harder for bj to keep the pace...
i think cardio plays a big role in this fight becaue they are both so damn talented but gsp is more metaly strong and in better fighter shape...
