Forrest Griffin vs. Anderson Silva at 205
Since Forrest is the new LHW champ, and Anderson trying to capture that belt as well, who takes it?

ill just say this.
forrest has some hard ass leg kicks, and anderson silva has some pencil thin legs. if he came out trying to knock andersons legs out who knows.
with that said i dont know, because i dont know enough about anderson at 205. i think anderson would be a favorite though.

Forrest would be a lot bigger but that might be one of his only advantages.
Anderson's standup is much better.
Forrest does have an underrated submission game, but Anderson has world class BJJ skills.
Forrest may have the advantage in wrestling/ takedowns, but what he would do with them would be the telling point in the fight. If he could get inside Silva's punches, take him down, and then avoid getting submitted, I could see him winning a couple of rounds or even a decision.
However, that is a big if and therefore I see Anderson Silva winning the fight most likely by submission rather than KO/TKO although the strikes would probably set up the sub much like in the Dan Henderson fight.

Forrest gets KO'd.
I say that pretty confidently.
Silva is just too mobile/skilled/crafty on the feet and takes him apart.
If Forrest gets a Takedown he won't catch Silva and may get subbed himself.
For Forrest to win he'd have to weather an early storm, and I don't see that happening.

Anderson isn't trying to capture the belt, he has stated that it belongs to Machida, and will go to 205 for big fights but his 'responsibility' is the 185 title

IMHO Silva's movement on his feet is too good to stand and get caught by Griffin's leg kicks....
Silva by TKO

Anderson destroys him standing up and evades his takedowns. Forrest's shot is mediocre and his clinch wrestling is good because he's big but he won't get close enough. Anderson's footwork is great.

This thread was made before I saw that interview.
I think Forrests only chance is to squeak out a decision somehow. I just don't see how he can do that. Silva's overall game is just so much more superior.
