I would cheer for Thiago.. think he can TKO Diego but.. Diego gave Fitch hell so its tough to say.. hes a better grappler then Thiago and Hughes.. his BJJ game is pretty damn good so its a lot different having a younger, black belt in Diego Sanchez on top of you.. whos also a HUGE WW vs having an older, out of prime Matt Hughes on top of you.. in prime Matt Hughes had some slick submissions and GnP.. out of prime Matt Hughes is just a LnP wrestler.. in prime Diego Sanchez has an entire arsenal on the ground.. and his submissions are better.. I think he subs Alves to be honest.

i totally agree... hughes is out of his prime and not looking good at all...he doesnt have the drive anymore imo...but diego is a very agressive wrestler with decent hands and great jits and controll...i think hed beat thiago up on the ground...

Dang, the battle between two guys named James in Spanish and Portuguese.
This is a damn good fight. Diego's gonna have to win this fight on the ground by keeping Thiago on his back and just pounding the shit out of him every chance he gets, constant activity with the ground and pound. To me, part of the reason Hughes lost was because he was relatively inactive when he got Thiago to the mat. It's hard to bull your way up to your feet if your constantly defending against nonstop ground and pound. Thiago's a much better striker and unless Diego can get it to the ground, then Thiago can knock him out. I think their submission games are a wash. Thiago may train with 17 black belts, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's a submission master or anything. But I do think that Thiago has enough BJJ to stop himself from getting submitted by Diego, and vice versa.
Thiago would have to be the betting favorite, but Diego is a live dog.

Thiago would dominate. keep it standing and just punish Diego.
definitely not enough respect for Thiago.

Alves is powerful, but I'd like to see Diego take this.

Alves would win this fight, but what I really want to say is that Diego should change hes nickname to "Dirty" that would be fuckin awesome.

i like diego's chances here, alves can be controlled on the ground, but it's likely that the fight wouldn't reach the ground unless alves is slow on his sprawls or gets lazy with his kicks. i don't think sanchez would get ko'd, but i don't think he's big enough to handle alves, but he could sub him from his guard though.

i'm still with diego on this, but i'd love to see this fight. diego says that he can't get knocked out cuz he has "the mexican jaw". hope it happens

This is one of the best fights I have seen posted. This would be a very exciting match. I think it would be a stand up match and Alves would win. Lets see if UFC can put this fight together unless GSP wins than I think Alves should be next in line. I would love to see the Koscheck and Diego rubber match.
