If Diaz doesn't get a little bit more movement in his head he would get knocked out by AJ's power

If Diaz can stand with Lawler and Gomi what makes people think that AJ would be any different? AJ will have a minute or 2 for a miracle KO and after that it's all taunting and ass whooping by Diaz, Bitch!!!

My biggest concern would be Diaz's scar tissue. I've heard he got it repaired, but I still feel he eats too many punches to set up his counter. He looked good against Inoue, but I don't know. I think AJ is a great striker with great power, but I don't see him knocking Nick out, but I could see him re-opening some of the damage Gomi did unless the plastic surgery was successful.
As far as KOing Lawler, I still think that's the worst thing that could have happened to Nick's career. He's been chasing that KO ever since, relying on a granite chin to set up a big right hand...but his right hasn't been big since that one punch.
I'd be more impressed if he learned some takedowns...he'd be a more complete threat if he did...his BJJ is superb, his chin is solid, he just needs to be able to change levels and become more unpredictable. Right now, he just comes forward like a 160 lb terminator...jab, jab, eat a punch, jab, eat a punch, counter, jab...
...of course, it helps that he's impervious to pain because he smoked so much pot, right Kizer?

He didnt stand with Gomi, and Lawler has no chin.. thats what makes it different.

And* that fight with Gomi was at a fucking catch weight. I mean, seriously - If Nick can't knock a natural 155 pounder with as many clean looks a gassed Gomi gave him, what in the world makes a person think he can knock AJ out?
Rivethead said it best - KO'ing Lawler's been a curse for Nick. He's been chasing a KO, and he doesn't have that power. Had more to do with Robbie's glass chin.
His stand up is terrible, and he should stop trying to make a highlight reel of all his opponents. He's an average fighter on his feet, and a complete strategical brain fart come fight time so.

I think that Diaz doesn't have the power to stand with Anthony, and he defs doesn't have the wrestling to take him down. I don't think AJ has proved to be better then Diaz yet, but I'd take him in this fight due to the matchup, IMO it would be a very frustrating fight for Nick where he would probably end up getting KO'd or cut.

I love how people keep saying AJ beat a green Tommy. Well seeing Tommy had 11 fights going into that fight and AJ only had 5. Who is the more green fighter?
AJ is big for a WW, very good boxing, and from what he has showed good power, not to mention he has good wrestling.
AJ has the reach if im not mistaken in a fight with Diaz.
He just keeps it standing and makes Diaz pay for trying to stand with him.
He knocks Diaz down and just waits for him to get back up, he isn't dumb enough to go to the ground with Diaz.
Diaz isn't good enough to take him down. His stand up isn't good enough to out box or strike AJ, and Diaz's striking D is good when the other guy doesn't have power. I mean leaving him self open to taking shots from Johnson is only going to be bad for Diaz.
And AJ knocked Tommy out. It wasn't a tko, Tommy was knocked out cold. It should have been a tko because Tommy was eating shots and wobbling all over but then AJ hit him again an he went to sleep.

To be fair, he did stand with Gomi, just not until Gomi had gassed and his hands were low. I also think that same fight would be stopped today due to that cut. It probably would have been stopped in CA even then.
I don't know that Lawler has "no" chin, I just think it was one of those lightning in a bottle moments where timing and placement align perfectly. NOTE: This does NOT make it a "lucky" punch. I like Nick's heart, but I don't think he'd beat either of them again. Lawler has also shown improvement since their fight...Nick still needs better take downs and all around defense, standing and TDD.
The sad part is that it's all stuff Nick can learn, but he just...hasn't. You can't teach heart and you can't teach chin, and he's got them...but I'd like to see him add more dimension to his game. There's a lot of fighters that frustrate me in the same way.

I could see Diaz pulling out a sub while hes getting GnP, but basically I think the fight is AJ's to win if he can overcome Diaz's experience.
