does anyone here who thinks Mir can be close to even with Minotauro on the mat even train jiu jitsu? or do you guys just listen to what Rogan says?
i dont see this fight making it past the 3rd, and i see Minotauro dominating the whole fight.

Is Rogan not very knowledgeable regarding BJJ?

nog's bjj is like 5 years ahead of mir in every aspect of the game. (atleast)
mir has no chance in this fight.. seriously, he isn't ko'ing nog, he isn't submitting him and theres no way he is dominating this fight to a dec.. so.. if this fight were to happen the odds should be like 10-1

oh he knows. but you guys are listening to hype, and comparing hype, not actual jiu jitsu skills.
Minotauro is miles ahead of Mir, especially in strategy. on the mat, he is thinking 5-6 steps ahead, all the time.
Mir has angles and shit, but an 'unorthodox' guard? how will that give him an advantage over Minotauro? its a regular closed guard, he doesnt use butterfly, x-guard, de la riva, 93, spider, none of that shit. some moves he does like the shoulder lock are real innovative, but that doesnt make his whole guard unorthodox, that just means hes trying moves that most dont know. and Minotauro will know better then to get caught like Pete Williams who isnt a black belt, let alone the most celebrated MMA jiu jitsu HW.
FYI, Babalu pwnd Frank real hard when they had a grappling match just last year. like real bad. Frank was a little out of shape then, but grappling doesnt require as much explosive power as MMA.

i wasnt specifically talking to you, but the guy who was saying Mir's 'unorthodox' guard which is just a closed guard, which had been compromised easily by Babalu, was going to give him an equal level of BJJ skill and overall mat game to Minotauro.

You don't believe that Frank Mir's guard is unorthodox? That he uses it in a way most others don't? That's my observation from watching all of his fights, and I don't view it as just a normal closed guard.
Regardless, Mir wasn't even close to the shape he was in for the Lesnar fight during the competition with Babalu. That's his own fault, yes, but he's rededicated himself. And while it might not require the same explosiveness that a normal MMA match would,it does make a difference.
I don't believe that Mir's BJJ skills are better than Minotauro, just that he does stand a chance on the ground, more than most people would. And while Mir's stand up isn't spectacular, he does have power. If he lands a head kick, he won't be as dumb as Heath Herring was, he would go for the kill.

Ya he wouldnt be as dumb as Heath Herring, but he wouldnt be able to put Nog down like Heath Herring cuz he doesnt have Heath Herrings power, or Tim Sylvia's.

Frank goes for maneuvers most don't, but that makes his style unorthodox, not his actual guard. he uses a typical closed guard, but he uses weird shit like that shoulderlock. the most impressive thing about Frank isnt really his overall level in BJJ, it was his agility off his back, he has a small man's guard, at least till he gasses.
which he usually does after about 1 round.
