Randy Couture vs Josh Barnett-NOW

The 1st fight was very interesting

Couture was very controlling until he made a mistake in the 2nd round which cause allowed Barnett to get the TKO

However Couture seems to be a better fighter now than he was then, and also Barnett tested positive for roids after their 1st fight.

So who wins in a rematch?

I think you are kind of glossing over the fact that Barnet has gotten allot better since then and since then Randy hasn't beaten one great HW and couldn't even hold onto the LHW title.

in my mind, Josh just has too great an advantage, stylistically and physically

Randy has always struggled when put on his back and pounded by someone who could neutralize his wrestling, which is primarily guys bigger than him. and Josh can wrestle, he has a much better and more diverse submission game than Randy, and most of all, he is bigger, stronger, and younger.

now this fight, i see Randy working hard, remnants of the Gonzaga fight and the first Barnett fight. but one mistake, and Josh gets on top, and from there, i dont think Randy will be able to get him off, and Josh will pound him out or submit him.

Barnett's catch wrestling is his biggest advantage. he's very aggressive and we've seen it against his fights against Nog (twice), Nastula, Hunt and Aleksander. i see him as top 3 in HW division, but if he doesn't fight in the next couple of months, he'll drop.

Randy has beaten every HW that he has faced since then (With the exception of the fight that was stopped due to a cut, to vitor, but he avenged that loss anyways)...

but it would be a close fight again imo.

They are similiar but barnett is alot bigger,stronger,better submissions, and is hard as hell to keep down.

but couture looked sharp as hell against gonzaga, who is a really good fighter...

Joshy has had his hiccups too..

Joshy has had his hiccups too..

He lost to Ricco Rodriguez and then dropped to LHW and that is where he lost to Vitor... Other then that he has beaten Sylvia and Gonzaga as a HW.

Barnett is a horrible matchup for Couture. Josh's wrestling is good and his size is a problem. Randy could hold his own, but I see the fight ending in a similar way the first one did.

i had couture winning the first fight untill he made a mistake and let josh capitlize...this was also a long time ago and josh was on roids...

couture imo is alot better then he was then and stronger as well...barnett has be inactive for a whole year and that could play a role in this fight...

now imo couture has the better stand up and has the better wreslting ofcourse...imo he is also a smarter fighter then he was back then...

i think randy could deff. win...josh has been inactive, is not on riods anymore, and couture has improved leaps and bounds since then especially in the stand up which imo will be a crucial factor in this rematch...

Both fighters have gotten better since then, but I think Barnett's improved more. His catch-wrestling is top notch and he's bigger than Randy. It's a close fight but I think Barnett takes it.
