this would be one hell of an exciting fight, two of my favourite fighters, but in all honesty, if it happened as their next fight, i couldnt see gsp winning, perhaps if he built up a couple of wins to do his confidence some good....maybe, but probably not, anderson is superior

I would say GSP has better kicks, punches, and elbows. Silva's great in the clinch, and delivering knees, but that's about the only part of his standup that stands out to me. I'd say they are about equal in accuracy and efficiency.

Don't underestimate GSP's new direction and focus he is getting from training with Jackson. We've only seen 1 fight since that change, and what I saw, I was very impressed with. He came in and took care of business very effectively. He had a great game plan, and he executed it extremely well.

Also, GSP is a very big WW - I think he would fill out at 185 rather well, and would be bigger and much stronger than Silva. I'd even say that at 185, GSP would be bigger and stronger than Franklin, yet GSP is much more skilled.

How was that impressive? He layed and prayed a win over a much lesser opponent and didn't even bother with the standup against a fighter that has about 12 years less kickboxing experience.

Do you really think Anderson Silva will ever try and win a decision rather then finishing the fight?

hmm...

If Gsp could use that snappy jab of his to keep Silva away and hit him with many effective leg kicks, he could do good

he would have to improve his head movement though, to avoid silva's hands

if silva were to use kicks often st pierre would get an opening and get the TD

from there GSP fights very tenatively but still scores points. I think St. Pierre would be able to control Silva on the ground

It's a tough call though. I'm not going to say that one fighter would clearly dominate, but i will say that i think GSP would win. Of coarse he is one of my favorite fighters but oh well.

Although i do know GSP does not have elbows nearly as good as A. Silva's (saw a video of him knocking a dude out with an elbow standing). and A Silva's striking is alot more polished

but Gsp does have probably the best, quickest jab in ufc, with sick leg kicks.

Bottom Line: If Gsp keeps his distance standing up and uses his jab/leg kicks VERY effectively, and takes silva down and controls him, i see GSP winning by Stoppage or Decesion, not tko

Why does everyone think GSP would be some force at MW.

MW he is moving up in weight, will no longer be the biggest strongest guy. He will just be a average MW.

As i said earlier GSP is used to being the biggest and at mw he would not be that. I don't think GSP could make it past 8 on the top 10 ever.

His take downs wouldnt be as good, and his take down d wouldnt be as could because he would be facing stronger guys. I am not saying he won't stop take downs but he won't be nearly as effective as he was at mw.

GSP is a good fighter at ww, but i don't think he would be anything special at mw.

Anderson just is to much for GSP to handle.

I guess it would actually take them to fight an Anderson to knock out GSP in the first round for people to see it. But then again people would probably say GSP got caught with those 8 knees to the face 2 kicks to the head and 4 punches, an then say he underestimated Anderson and was injured going into the fight.

GSP is far greater at ww than "good"

he has beat matt hughes, bj penn, sean sherk, who have all been champs. and also Karo and Trigg. If that doesnt put you above "good", then i don't know what does

imo silva has never fought anyone as well rounded as GSP

and name 8 fighters at MW that could beat GSP, please.

and yeah GSP is a strong dude but strength isnt his only aspect

he ass raped frank trigg who is just as strong if not stronger.

I still think he would be able to take A silva down considering he has really good takedowns while silva has mediocre Takedown defense

even if it is a boring fight i still think gsp would have the ability to outscore A Silva.
