Because all being said and considered, I don't see Georges getting caught on the ground by Silva at all, and if that's the point of contention I'm even more confused than we I started posting in this thread...
If the fight stays standing I give every advantage to Silva under the sun, that's even with GSP's excellent striking, but on the mat, I got GSP out working Silva into a TKO or submission...
All things being hypothetical, I understand the points of view being expressed, but I can't see how it can be said that GSP is over-rated or unproven on the ground...

I don't recall anyone saying that Silva has the same level of BJJ as Penn or Nogs, but that doesn't mean he isn't a good BJJ practitioner. Silva can fight off his back pretty well, he has long legs which always seem to end up putting his opponent in a body triangle, and he is well versed in submissions.
GSP has only shown me that he can keep wrestlers on their back or just use his size to keep the smaller fighter down. Most wrestlers don't have a very dangerous guard, wrestlers hate being on their back. And the only developed BJJ person that GSP has fought was BJ Penn who looked out of shape and is certainly smaller then GSP. Silva is bigger then GSP and has that diverse ground game off his back.
With that said I don't see Silva subbing GSP, I see him KOing him, but if the fight does go to the ground, I expect GSP won't be able to be that much on the offensive as you presume because he will have to be defending submissions or just trying to hold Silva down.

I need to see more of Anderson's wrestling. It obviously depends on where the fight goes. if GSP takes it to the ground, and I doubt he'll have a problem doing so he'll win by TKO or Submission in the 3rd. Standing... Anderson in 1.

unlike most, i dont see Anderson subbing GSP. but as ive seen time and time again, its hard to do shit to a healthy Anderson. he just wraps guys up and they cant do shit. then he gets stood up, and its his time. and 5 rounds against the Spider, unless you have chin like Dan Henderson, you're going to get knocked out. thats how i see it.

I think the difference between all the fighters GSP has faced and Silva in terms of BJJ, is that GSP has faced one better BJJ practioner in Penn. And Penn is 30 pounds smaller the Silva, and GSP was able to use his strength to post up out of Penn's rubber gaurd and barely avoided the Omopolata.
Silva would be the first BJJ black belt we will have seen fight GSP who is also as strong if not stronger then GSP. Silva's chances of subbing GSP would be greater then any other fighter he has faced including Hughes who did sub GSP.

The never ending thread continues lol.
But i agree with what you said.
Some people have forgot that Anderson is bigger an strong then penn, and bigger an strong then GSP and also a good ground game which makes him imo able to do things that penn could not because he is stronger.

I don't question Anderson's ability to knock someone out or strike with surgical procession. But I think that GSP's skill and skillset are a bad match up for Silva.
I think GSP is faster in his striking, he has a deadly jab that he uses to set up a myriad of skills, along with excellent leg strikes. But I still think Gsp would realize that Anderson would have the power advantage and I'd wager any amount of money that Gsp would have Silva on the mat in the first minute.
I respect Silva's ground game but I don't think he's been challenged there in the UFC; closest anyone has come as been Lutter who doesn't ground out opponents and could have sealed the deal if he was in better shape. I can't see Gsp making the mistake he made against Serra again (being unprepared mentally and physically).
All this is purely hypothetical so there's no reason to insult anyone's opinion on the matter, I would agree totally that of the two, Anderson has the better ability to take a shot, I would also conceed that Anderson has arguably the best stand-up defense in the Ufc today.
But like I said, Gsp would know this, he'd shoot, and he'd score...

Hughes subbed him over 3 years ago and that was from top position, and i don't see silva being on top of georges at all in this fight unless he drops gsp and goes to finish him off.
we do need to see more of what gsp can do on the ground against good grapplers but he is very strong and is a very good grappler himself imo
gsp is strong enough, smart enough, and technically good enough imo to avoid silva's submissions and control him on the ground, and score enough points to win the fight.

It's called position before submission and Silva is extreemly comfortable working from his back and if he has GSP in gaurd he could certainly pull off a submission or even a sweep and then he would be on top mount
I would agree with you if Silva was just a Grappler and not a BJJ Black Belt. Grapplers relly allot more on strength where as BJJ practioners relly on techniques designed to overcome an opponents strength.
GSP's strength will also be less of a factor at 185 against a stronger fighter like Silva. GSP is good on the ground, but he is far from the same level as a BJJ black belt like Silva.
