I am probably going to get slammed for my opinion, but it is my opinion. The truth is, everyone considers Anderson Silva to be the new Fedor (simply because he beat Franklin for the second time, in a less devestating fashion no less). Anderson is the king of the smallest division in MMA. I am not trying to discredit him. He is an AMAZING fighter.. but it doesn't change the fact that he rules over the least stacked division in MMA.

maybe he is a top ten P4P.. but is he #1? No.

Ofcorse GSP is smarter he aint black.

no head movement in boxing means you take unnecessary punches in the pocket, thus, if you can get GSP to stand and trade, instead of moving in and out, a good boxer can knock him the fuck out. or, they can time him, moving in and out behind the jab with his head in the same place, and throw the overhand right over his jab, to counter. just like Serra.

i dont think he was concerned about standing with Kos, who is still learning how to stand, and doesn't have much but a decent 1-2 standing up. it was just a smarter gameplan to come out quick and shoot, and put Kos on his back, because if you let him dictate if and when the fight goes down, it becomes a harder fight.

GSP still has yet to face a guy in the WW division who can really bang standing up. BJ and Serra probably were the two most dangerous guys in the standup, which is kind of sad. i think that if he fought a guy like Thiago Alves and didnt take him down, he would get knocked the fuck out. but its MMA, and GSP is well rounded. which is why he is so unbeatable

the two guys that have made him look the worst follow the same blueprint. make him stand up, either stuff his shots or make him afraid to stay in your guard. then box with him. even boxing as technically ugly as Serra's worked, because he came with the right gameplan.

maybe it was his inability to finish passing guard on Josh Koscheck, so that he could finish his completely locked on kimura.

GSP looks like a good grappler because he has only fought two guys i would consider good grapplers. and he did nothing on the ground to either Hughes or BJ.

watch Lee Murray vs Anderson where he eats shot after shot.
Rivera vs Anderson, where he puts his hands down and lets Rivera hit him, before he knocks him out.
and if you dont think either of those guys hit hard and fast, dont argue, because it means you dont know shit

Don't lecture me about MMA when I probably know more about actual combat than you ever will unless you're a fighter to, because I've been in the ring as a kickboxer, and I've trained all around martial arts for over ten years. I was stating an opinion, so fu*k off with the "you don't know shit." comments.

A lot of what I'm reading here about Anderson Silva's skill are true, valid, and excellent points.

I don't question Anderson's ability to knock someone out or strike with surgical procession. But I think that GSP's skill and skillset are a bad match up for Silva.

I think GSP is faster in his striking, he has a deadly jab that he uses to set up a myriad of skills, along with excellent leg strikes. But I still think Gsp would realize that Anderson would have the power advantage and I'd wager any amount of money that Gsp would have Silva on the mat in the first minute.

I respect Silva's ground game but I don't think he's been challenged there in the UFC; closest anyone has come as been Lutter who doesn't ground out opponents and could have sealed the deal if he was in better shape. I can't see Gsp making the mistake he made against Serra again (being unprepared mentally and physically).

All this is purely hypothetical so there's no reason to insult anyone's opinion on the matter, I would agree totally that of the two, Anderson has the better ability to take a shot, I would also conceed that Anderson has arguably the best stand-up defense in the Ufc today.

But like I said, Gsp would know this, he'd shoot, and he'd score...

If Anderson loses to hendo i can already see it now, See GSP could have won because Hendo is a wrestler an so is GSP.

well i do train. and i haven't fought yet, but i will.

but i know what the fuck im talking about, and i can say whatever the fuck i want. im not talking shit. i dissent, and break it down.

GSP is not a world class grappler, because he doesnt look good on the ground against proven world class grapplers
Anderson has great chin, because he has been blasted by known KO artists in the division above GSP, and was totally unphased.

the clueless comment is because Anderson's chin has never been suspect.
