Ryoto Machida vs. Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou

both have made quite an impact at 205 and are up and commers. who do u think will win. soko is very explosive. great judo, nice takedowns, and groundgame. with very explosive striking. while ryoto is a very good counter puncher. very hard to call. i cant really decide although if soko is really the guy who beat lil nog and arona like that then he would win, possibly a future contender for guys like shogun, hendo, page, liddell, wand, but i dont know how somebody can beat them that fast no matter how good they are. maybe just so explosive that they couldnt handel it. also has very hard leg kicks. great fight dont know if it was posted before but thought it would be a good post.

id have to go with macida

personally i just see something in machida that i dont see in anyone else

his speed and striking is just so good and ive never seen anyone dodge practically everything thrown at him the way he does

i think he would end up winning by ko or decision

Machida dodging punches is impressive, but he still gets hit alot.. IE: the Vernon white fight

Soko would be fighting Machida in 4 oz gloves, with his power, speed, and technique.. he would beat Machida on the feet and I dont see Machida beign able to take it to the ground.

Soko's takedown D looked almost as good as chucks, and his balance is off the hook. Also machida doesnt have that good of wrestling so he wouldnt be able to take him down.

yes not only is he excellent at judo and td defence but he has great striking, could rise up really fast.

I would go with Soko on this one. I think that he is going to be the number 2 in the world for sometime once he gets more fights in him. I would say that in this fight he wouldnt win by KO, but he would get a hip throw on Machida and just rain bombs on him until the ref calls the fight.

i'll take fitch over diego too.....that's not what I was asking. I don't see Machida having anything Shogun hasn't seen and beaten before.

On the feet I think it'd be very interesting. Ryoto is just so extremely fast and he waits to pick his shots. His unorthodox style throws a lot of guys off their game plan and I might even give him a slight nod in the striking department, now he get could still get caught and get knocked the fuck out, but I still give him an advantage. However even though I give Machida a striking advantage, I think it wouldn't matter, because Sokoudjou would pick up the UD with his ground game. Sokoudjou has a very accomplished grappling background and I'm sure that with his judo skills and the fact that he trains with Team Quest he could take Machida down and although Machida is very good grappler on the ground he's way too defensive. Being defensive in the standup works great for him, but being defensive on the ground doesn't. That's why Sokoudjou picks up the victory.
