chuck vs sakuraba
i was disscussing this with another poster and he seemed to think saku could beat chuck...when imo sakuraba offers nothing in a fight with chuck..
sakuraba has little stand up(even if he trains chute box now) and has little power in his punches because he is a natural mw....
chuck has way better striking then saku and alot more power...
saku's chance would be on the ground but with chuck having one of the best take down d's at lhw and saku not being able toset up the shots with punches i just dont see saku getting it to the ground...
chuck wins this by ko round 1 imo
wat do you guys think??

right now of course chuck would beat him, saku has taken to much punishment in his career and even if he isnt very old he cant compete with top level guys in higher divisions anymore

i even think in there primes...its just a bad style match up for saku..
i think saku was great but style wise chuck is bad for him

Accually, I think he can still compete, but don't think he can beat Chuck. Saku hasn't really had a bad losing streak or anything, he just gets his ass whipped by a prime Wand, nothing to be frown upon. Against people his size, he usually wins and still think he could school some young dudes.
BTW, Saku has very underated stand up. He's accually pretty good.

Saku was a genious in his prime, and I do believe his wrestling, and wrestling-style is good enough to take Chuck down atleast once and keep him down long enough to sub him.. honest to god I think all it would take is one takedown, if Chuck doesnt get up immedatiely I dont think he can handle Saku's sub game, and overall I think he was just too smart. Lets be real here, too many fighters Chuck has faced tried to strike with him.. they had no faith in there abilities.. look at the guys who beat Chuck.. they had faith in there abilities.. the first time Couture beat him, he took Chuck down.. the next 2 fights what did he try to do? strike with him.
Both times Rampage beat him, the 2nd time was a little fast.. but Rampage knows his world is striking as well as wrestling, the first time he was taking Chuck down, striking with him.. I mean RAmpage isnt the best example cuz he can wrestle and strike.
Horn fight was too long ago to bring up, but look at some of the guys Chuck beat
Tito Ortiz.. went for what? two takedowns? tried to strike with him most of the fight
Couture in the 2nd and 3rd fights.. he probably went for a total of 2 takedowns between BOTH FIGHTS
Sakuraba is too smart to just try and strike with Chuck and even if Chuck stuffs his takedowns, hes just gonna pull guard.
