AMSTERDAM SET FOR K-1 GRAND PRIX
Several participants have been confirmed for the Amsterdam K-1 Grand Prix on Friday, April 24 at the Amsterdam Arena in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Regarded by many as the biggest yearly combat sports event in Europe, the grand prix features both MMA and K-1 bouts.
Jerome Le Banner will challenge reigning K-1 champion Semmy Schilt in the main event. Touted as the best fighter never to win a grand prix, Le Banner has become known as a ferocious single-bout competitor, and many believe he stands a good chance of upsetting Schilt.
In other action, Poland’s Pawel Slowinski will square off with Holland’s Gokhan Sakhi, and kickboxing legend Peter Aerts will collide with Melvin Manhoef. Both matches will be contested under K-1 rules. Other confirmed participants include Buakaw Por Pramuk, Andy Souwer, Albert Kraus and Gago “Drago” Aroetjunian.
No MMA fights have been announced yet, but rumours have surfaced regarding Pride veteran and current Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem’s participation.

Looks pretty good so far. Schilt vs. JLB. Aerts vs. Manhoef K-1 rules match. Buakaw and Souwer in action. Also, Overeem is supposed to be fighting Gilbert Yvel. Should be a fun event.

Aerts is out due to injury, but Bonjasky will take his place to fight Manhoef.
