I wrestled for 10 years you fucking poser... If you don't agree then don't agree, but don't pretend to know who I am. I've been watching this shit since the beginning and I am starting to lose interest after 10 years. What fuck is watching highlight vids going to do?

Agree 100%, but in addition to all the Fedor and Randy Drama I am starting to relize that MMA is more about making money and being celebrities then actually being the most effective combat sport or matial art (which it is), but I love the atmosphere of amature fighting, wheather it be wrestling , BJJ, sub-wrestling, kickboxing... something about people who fight dozens of times in day all in the name for self gratification and personal drive just is beccoming more apealing to me.

When I was training in the mid 90's and early 2000's i never watched MMA. I was kind of ignorant I knew Judson and a few friends were on PPV's but no one liked the sport in my mind so it was not very important to watch. I just liked training and fighting it was always a rush. Sometimes I feel like I want to do it again but I am older now and that shit hurts...hahah like it didn't before but for some reason it seems to effect me more now. Still once in a blue moon I will roll with someone or bring out my twins gear and trade some blows

i love training first hand, and i do feel that sometimes just if all i could ever do was watch and talk about fighting, it would suck a lot.
but you should just look at it as using your training as another tool to appreciate the game, the more you learn the more exciting it can be to watch MMA.
im trying hard to improve my standup game and nothing excites me more than watching Anderson, Wanderlei, or even Thiago Alves, just run a Muay Thai clinic on people, and i love watching a sick grappler, or a great wrestler, just completely blow the other guy out of the water in terms of that area of the game.
and the atmosphere? MMA is getting big and guys are almost celebrities. but as far back as 10-20 years ago for some of the older guys like Chuck and Randy, they were the unknown amateurs working their ass off at the gym, just like so many guys are now. not everyone will be a superstar like them, but thats the goal of fighting and competing is it not? to be the best?
as for the Randy shit, i am not even concerned. either way, i get to see Minotauro fight for the UFC title, and this just makes every HW fight that much more important. and if he makes it out of his contract, then we see Randy vs Fedor. yay

Don't get me wrong. It's not like I am not interested in MMA it's just that it isn't as interesting. Two years ago if I saw anything online or on tv about MMA I would have stoped what I was doing and watched it. The last few cards I could have cared less if I had seen or not. Now I know they were some of the worst cards ever, but two or three or especially eight or nine years ago I would have been more then happy to buy those PPV's.
Anyways, I can totally relate about appreciating fighting more in terms of understanding on deeper level what is actually happening. And there are certain fighters that I can't wait to watch fight, but all the rest I am just not as into as I used to be.
As far as Randy and Fedor, I am not talking about anything other then I really never cared about that match up to begin and I am just sick of hearing and reading about it. Too much drama.

For me MMA is like the ultimate goal. Whether I ever compete in an MMA event or not, it motivates me to keep training. It was my motivation to start training bjj. Now, I get so into the bjj at times that I lose interest in training standup, but I never get tired of watching MMA. The drama sucks, (someone already said this) but watching MMA from a students perspective really changed how I see things, and really makes it more enjoyable.
Hang in there Palma. After being involved in something as long as you have, you're bound to get bored from time to time. Going to bjj class gets very monotonous for me. I'll get bored with the news on the forum sometimes and stop paying attention for a week. Maybe a break from it (MMA) is all you need to renew your interest.
