Man, boxing and Muay Thai are no joke but nothing decimates my body the way JJ does.
I'm on my second day back from a two month layoff and I am fucking dead. I have to ride my bike 30 minutes each way just to get to class, and that's hauling ass. It's 45 if I'm being lazy.
So a three hour workout turns into nearly 4 1/2 including the time on the bike. I just got home 20 minutes ago and I'm fucking exhausted.
But on an encouragement note, keep it up Sundance. It will be rewarding in time. It fucking sucks and is all up hill for a little bit, but it really does get a ton more fun.

I went to class yesterday but got there late, Monday and Wednesday the classes start at 11 but on Friday they start at 10, I had no idea, but I still rolled. It was pretty much the same as the first to classes.
Me getting my ass kicked, the first guy I rolled with didn't tap me, for 6 Min's, I'm not sure what belt he was but he was about my size and had been rolling long than me, he didn't mount me but I snuck out the back door. and the round ended with me in mount not really knowing what to do.lol
the Next guy I rolled with was my size but a purple belt and he just absolutely fucking played with me.lol He did teach me some stuff though, but the last guy I rolled with was 6'3 about 230 and he totally kicked my ass. My neck hurts so fucking bad, I can hardly turn it.lol I have bruises all over my body.lol
I'm black and blue, literally.lol
But I have today and tomorrow off and get back at it on monday, so I have a little time to recover.

I've been getting my ass busted at shooto and I'm getting back into BJJ this week (if studies allow it). Yesterday when sparring I got my ass handed to me by everybody (not used to getting dominated so it sucks ), however I still managed to hold off submissions most of the time. The friday workouts are tough as hell but once you get through em you feel great!
I'm kind of curious to see if the JJ there is as bad as the shooto (and if it is my cardio and strength will be through the roof in a few months) but I mainly want to get my game back as I feel really rusty grappling without the gi.

Hang in there Sundance...sounds like your doing just fine!!!....just stick with it...
I absolutely love rolling with people that are better bigger and stronger then me!!! Is it wierd when you like getting choked?...dont get me wrong...I dont go out of my way to put myself into bad positions or anything during comp, but every once in a while...Id say that its good for you......keeps you motivated..
Due to the lack of quality training partners in my area....I often find myself at the top of the food chain so to speak where I train....I think its a blast to sometimes stick my neck out and challenge myself every once in a while... Its like planned mistakes to better your escapes and composure abilities.... also it helps your training partners to see openings better too.... I think its a great way to learn and teach.... you get tapped...you stop and say good job, nice finish......they start to get cocky.....and its time to knock them down a peg..lol :grinsmile26:

I was at a Pedro Sauer seminar a few months back and he encouraged us to do just what you're talking about. He said you really should have to tap a couple times every time you train, even if you're really good. He basically said its good to occasionally put yourself in a bad spot on purpose, to learn how to get out of crappy situations.
hey Sundance, keep it up, good stuff. and I know it can be hard but try to relax when you spar. It will not only help you to avoid getting winded, it will also allow you to feel your opponent better so you can react to his weight shifting, subtle changes in position, and mistakes that you can capitalize on. relaxing doesn't mean you don't go hard, it just means you aren't tensed up all the time, and when you do act decisively it will be more effective

I think today was my best class so far, I relaxed during rolling and learned alot during technique.
I was still very tired after rolling, but I didn't puke and I could definatly tell the differance when I just relaxed.
Thanks for the support guys.
