Forrest Griffin Out of UFC 72?

Let me preface this report by saying that the UFC website is not known for its timely updates but the fact that Griffin was listed on the site and is now gone is intriguing. I discovered his removal earlier tonight but was hesitant to report the news but the site seems to be up-to-date as Yushin Okami is already listed in the events main event, an announcement just made official earlier today.

This is the second time Griffin has pulled out of his next UFC bout. Griffin had been previously signed to face Lyoto Machida at UFC 70 last month but had to withdraw due to a staph infection. Griffin is one of the biggest fan favorites in the UFC stemming from his win on the TUF 1 finale against Stephan Bonnar and his sense of humor. In his last fight Forrest lost to Keith Jardine at UFC 66.

I did some digging and was unable to turn up anything on this story with regards to his removal but I will keep you updated if this is confirmed or dismissed.

yeah, I also kind of noticed that Griffin is off the card again.. If he isn't fighting at UFC 72.. maybe he'll fight at TUF Finale or UFC FN, otherwise he would have to wait until august or september, which is a long break

There is a good chance that the infection is probably worse then people first thought. Kind of sucks for Forrest, I was looking forward to both fights,.

even though he isnt listed on the card, if you higlight the UFC 72 icon on the main page, you'll see his name is still on listed as fighting Hector Ramirez. so maybe they just havent updated the main card.

maybe they could put him on the ufn card because that main event blows whale balls

I sent Forrest a private message on Myspace... he responded with a Bulletin

And I quote.....

"I am fighting Hector Ramirez at UFC 72."

So... it is just a site fuck up I guess

I was going to make a separate thread.. but I dunno, is it worth it?

I would say so, because there's a lot of talk in other threads about him not being there. Just say it was a site fuck up or whatever, I don't see why mods would have a problem with correcting inaccurate information.
