Shogun Interview: Returns in June, Wants Henderson, Can Fight in the UFC

anyone else think it was weird to have him answer the questions by saying "he" instead of "I"? did he have a translator or something?

also, if he doesn't fight hendo next, i'd like to see him go up against sokoudjou since he beat arona and lil nog. that'd be a fun match and would give us a great idea of exactly what sokoudjou is as a fighter.

I just wrote up a quick summary of the video, and yes, he was using a translator. They filmed it in the parking lot.

maybe Shogun is fighting in ufc in june since there isnt anything set up for pride.

Because didnt Dana say Shogun would be next inline or some shit for the winner of chuck/rampage.

so maybe they are trying to show him to the world so he can sell.

Good theory, the winner of Liddell vs. Rampage definitely won't be fighting until August or September at the least, so Shogun will definitely be facing someone else in the meantime. Personally I doubt his next fight will be in the UFC, because Shogun is the clear #1 contender for the PRIDE 205 belt and deserves a shot at Henderson. There was already talk that PRIDE 35 might be in California, but I suspect it will be in Japan and Shogun will be headlining it vs. Hendo. PRIDE 35 may also be the LWGP opening round, so they would be looking for a few marquee non-tourney bouts.

i think it would be in UFC's best interest to give shogun a pride title shot before he goes for a ufc title shot. if they throw him in there right after rampage, no UFC fans no who he is, he probably beats chuck, and that's that. but if he comes in with the pride title then its a super-fight and it'll sell way bigger than shogun/chuck as a contender.

of course, that's all assuming that chuck beats rampage, shogun beats hendo, and ufc doesn't do that chuck/randy champ/champ fight that sundance has mentioned a couple times.

lots of ifs, but they're all exciting.
