Under-the-radar welterweight contender Jon Fitch (13-2 MMA, 5-0 UFC) will face recent UFC signee Roan Carneiro (11-5 MMA, 1-0 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 10 on June 9, according to a UFCjunkie.com source close to one of the fighters.
No location or venue is yet known for the event.
Despite a staggering five-fight win streak in the UFC (and 12 straight victories overall), Fitch could be on the main card of a UFC event for just the second time in his career. Four of his five previous UFC fights have been relegated to the undercard — despite a host of notable opponents.
During his win streak, Fitch has defeated Brock Larson (UFC Fight Night 2), Josh Burkman (UFC Fight Night 4), Thiago Alves (UFC Fight Night 5), Kuniyoshi Hironaka (UFC 64) and Luigi Fioravanti (UFC 68).
After learning that his UFC 68 fight in March would once again go un-televised, the American Kickboxing Academy fighter encouraged his fans to contact the UFC to voice their displeasure. Apparently, they did so — lots of them — and Fitch later said the UFC contacted him, told him they got the message, and that he should quiet the mini-riot he started.
While UFCjunkie.com was unable to confirm it, the Fitch-Carneiro seems destined for the televised main card of UFC Fight Night 10.
Carneiro made his UFC debut earlier this month at UFC Fight Night 9 and picked up a unanimous-decision win over The Ultimate Fighter 4’s Rich Clementi on the event’s undercard. The Brazilian Top Team member, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, fought six times in 2006 with a 4-2 record.
Despite what appears to be a mediocre record, Carneiro’s resume features a host of top MMA opponents, including current UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva. The two fighters met in a Meca World Vale Tudo event five years ago with Silva emerging the victor.

Man, this guy gets the shaft more than anyone else. 12 fight win streak, 5 of those in the UFC, against increasingly stiff competition and he still can't make the televised portion of a ppv.



Maybe the UFC feels he's not a great marketing prospect?

I've got agree with you, when it comes to stiffs, nobody beats Fioraventi.

I wish they were booking Sanchez vs. Fitch instead but I guess Diego needs a rebound win.

Karo is going to walk by Burkman. I have not seen anything from the guy to make me think he is any kind of threat.

Anyway i think its bullshit that Fitch keeps getting the shaft. 3 out of 5 of those wins were finishes. I think they thought Fitch was going to be a steping stone for someone. The guy is fun to watch. Do not see why they keep fucking him, he gets to be on a main card and is going to win most likely by sub.
