Default Should the UFC have the Yellow Card?

Sorry about posting this again and sorry if this has been covered in the past. I wanted to add a poll. But the yellow card is a stroke of genius. I don't know if this was a Pride invention or if another Japanese venue had created it. It is the perfect way to keep a fight going. Screw taking a away a point... that only works under perfect circumstances.

Anyway it was obviously the Arlovsky/Werdum fight that made me think of this. Decent first round and then they spent the next two like it was the first minute of the fight and they were feeling each other out. Just really irritating to watch. I would watch an hour of lay and pray before shit like this.

Well, let get to my point. Does the NSAC allow something like a yellow card? Can you just garnish a fighter's purse based on lack of action? If they dont care than they need to start doing that shit!

I couldn't agree more; I was thinking the exact same thing last night... All my friends (casual fans) were staring at me like I was crazy when I kept yelling that they needed a damn yellow card... I liked that Herb Dean threatened the point deduction for whoever "retreated" first in the 3rd round, but it obviously didn't change anything... Anybody else hear Herb say "Let's have a good, clean, action-packed fight!" at the beginning of the Gonzaga/Cro Cop fight? UFC definitely needs to do something about this...

yes i think the UFC should implement this if it is possible. some of the fights lastnight were boring. fucking with someones pay is going to get them riled up. i think with that we'd see more exciting fights in the UFC.

It is very frustrating watching that stuff. They build all this hype around certain fighters and they end up busting. the AA VS FW fight lastnight was horrible to watch in the last 2 rounds. barely any action at all.

I didnt get to see the Lyoto fight but apparently it was garbage. This was one of the fights they hyped on the countdown show and it was so bad apparently it didnt even make the show

I clapped my hands when Herb Dean said what he said during the Arlovski fight.

Yeh, I heard Herb say it. It made me respect him more as a ref. Unfortunately, taking away a point will only get guys motors running under very specific circumstances. All he could've done was take a point from AA(maybe unfairly) and piss him off and make him attack. It was really tedious to watch one of my more liked fighter just walk in circles for 2 rounds. I appreciated his apology but thats the biggest threat to growing this sport. Some casual fans find it boring because they don't understand the ground game and throw in a real boring fight and we have guys talking about how boring most ufc fights are.

Yes, I think the "Yellow Card" is a MUST. I don't think the law allows for fighter purses to be penalized, but there are MANY other ways to penalize non actions fights.

On another note, Herb Dean did stop and stand up the Gonzaga/CroCop fight, but in my mind Gonzaga was continously landing strikes, and thats one time it was questionable that they should have have been stood up.

Is no action the only way a fighter gets a yellow card? Are they also used for grabbing the ropes or anything like that? I think Werdum should have been docked a point cause he kept grabbing the fence to get better leverage. The refs need to be on top of that as well.

Well, lets see????

The ref could spank them on their peepee.

He could make them take a time out. No wait they already did that.

They could play scissor rock paper to see who gets the first free punch.

It would redundant to deduct points from both of them.

(in a whiney voice) Geez, I don’t know. I’m not thinking well, ‘cause I didn’t sleep well last night.
