Default Here is why MMA is the most exciting sport in the world *SPOILERS*

What other sport in the world can you see what we saw tonight? Could you take an "O.K." soccer or football team and, with six or seven months to change their game plan enough to beat the heavy favorite? Even boxing...you give a boxer several months to plan for their next fight, but what do the really change? Punch "differently"??

You take a guy like Gonzaga, who was BORN with his Gi, and train his Muay Thai enough to KNOCK OUT Mirko Crocop! You take Matt Serra, an old, salty vet, let him win a contest to fight the champion and he KNOCKS OUT GSP in the first round! You take an MMA icon like Randy Couture......you get what I'm saying?

MMA is SO unpredictable. I can't wait to see what's next.

How is this a good thing?

Wheres the consistency in this?

and the reasons why these upsets are happening arent very good ones, they happen because fighters think they can get away with being sloppy, or leaving there hands down, and overall poor technqiue which isnt usually said about CC up until recently IE: the Eddie Sanchez fight.

GSP was TKOed, not KOed. There's a big difference, ask GSP and Cro Cop, they'll tell you. One remembers something, the other gets a possible leg injury.

But I agree with what you're saying.

I gotta disagree man. It's good for the sport because I think that, after, Randy, Matt, and Gabe, fighters are no longer going to afford themselves the luxury of "looking past" their next opponent.

I happen to LOVE the upset. I LOVE when the belt changes hands.

The upset and the loss is the point in a fighters career when we learn weather that person in a True Champion or just the Current Champion. Compare Randy Couture to Andre Arlovski. AA seems to have lost that killer instinct and desire to WIN the fight. Not just take the decision and get a victory but WIN.

So maybe the term "best fighter in the world" is more convoluted than simply who is the current champ or who is the favorite.

OK...had a few beers...hope some of that made sense!

I love the upset too

But I love a Hendo vs Wandy upset when the other guy is the big underdog, but still a great fighter, and an established fighter, actually.. a world class fighter

I dont like the #2 P4P fighter in the world getting knocked out vs an up and comer, who is great no doubt but still an up and comer because of bad technique, carelessness, whatever it may be.

I just think most of these knockouts are comin from the wide open striking, and lack of defense from these fighters.. there too careless on the feet and its gonna spawn a lot of KOs.

and were talking about Cro-cop here! the consensus best striker in MMA! but watch the Eddie Sanchez fight, he let Sanchez him in the face. Too many MMA fighters have this knockout mentallity, and they go in swingin' thats why theres so many damn upsets, thats why these fighters are getting knocked out.

OK, this "AA lost his killer instinct" stuff is pissing me off. He fought with exactly the same one-shot KO style he always does and had a few close attempts. The majority of Couture/Liddell 3 looked exactly the way rounds 2-3 of AA/Werdum went.

It boggles my mind that anyone thinks AA was just trying to outpoint Werdum rather than setting up a KO shot. Just look at his footwork and the shots he picks throughout the fight. It's pretty much the same thing as Rashad Evans when he fought Sean Salmon. The only difference is that AA wasn't able to land the shot he was looking for. It doesn't mean he wasn't trying. Hell, he came close a few times.
