I really do not think Machida could cut to 185. Lets see how he does at 205 first. I think he will fair well at 205.

MW (185) is not going to happen. As Afro said Machida used to be a big LHW.

What has happened over the course of the past 2 years is that he has been fluctuating his physique and now appears to be at the peak of that trnsformation.

Yesterday


He's obviously training his ass off and has been for the past 9 months. He came in at 203 vs Hogar so 199lbs is not going to matter matched up against Heath's 6 lb advanatge. Cro Cop gives up 20lbs+ nearly every fight and it has never been an issue, it will not be one for Machida either because he moves so well on his feet that all this does is become more of a dissadvantage to his opponents becasue he was already quick and extremely evasive but now he's even quicker.

Machida is winning this fight and will be contending for the title within the next 2 years.

lol @ those who simply state that they 'dont think he can make it'. Jeez, give a reason will you for why a 200lb man can't make a 13 lb water cut. You might struggle because there is no reason.

Look at the latest photo of him at the weigh-in, he's not cutting 14lbs off of that frame and keeping any strength or power. The Ryoto from 2 years ago was of Fedor's physique but look at the photos, the water and fat have been shed, he's not getting down to 185 unless he loses an arm or some muscle mass.

So if it's a matter of "could he get down to 185lbs", sure he can (Josh Haynes was 300lbs and now he's down to 170lbs and wants to drop to 155lbs) but he will probably be more effective at LHW because of his quickness whereas at MW he will not have that advantage.
