Title Fights

One thing I really dont' like is when a PPV does not have a title fight. In my opinion, every PPV should have a true main event. Main Events are championship fights. I'm a little disappointed there isn't one this weekend. To me it just makes the PPV seem like a throw away PPV.

I know many of you are going to get on the Cro Cop bandwagon saying how he is the main event, and worthy of any main event, blah blah blah. The fact is, when most people think Main Event they think championship. WIthout a title fight it makes the PPV seem unimportant.

Thoughts?

I disagree. A number one contender match can be good enough for a main event. Plus there have been a couple PPV with multiple titles on the line. Not all of the title fights can carry a card. Looks at the LW title it seems that the UFC is making sure it's not a card with another title fight each time. As long as the card is good I don't care if a title is on the line.

I don't think Crocop/Gonzaga is necessarily main event material but we need to find out who's going to fight Randy and it's free so I can't complain.

There are a lot of ppvs theses days and if a title were on the line in each one, the value and meaning of the title would be seriously watered down.

I mean it is not a fucking PPV, it is a huge event with 3 of the top 10 Heavyweight fighters in the world on the card, and your bitching about a belt? Fuck that be happy that MMA is on TV at all, not trying to be disrespectful, but I remember having to wait fucking 4 months between PPV, and hell some of them didn't have title fights, and nobody complains. Your acting like a spoiled child that got the wrong color BMW for Christmas.

first of all, what the hell are you guys jumping his case for, he wanted to know your thought on a subject worth discussing!

I think you guys may be missunderstanding him, or maybe i'm reading to much into the original post, I'm thinking maybe he's saying it should be a fight night not a ppv because no title is on the line

i dont agree with the OP but im not upset about the comment... but i think this card is going to be amazing and it does not need a title fight.. it has the number 1 striker in mma and it has 2 top 10 HWs goin at it.. its going to be Bispings second fight under real UFC lights so its going to be a fun night for him... and what i am looking forward to is Kongo vs Silva.. tahts going to be a slug fest and i will enjoy that

so i guess if a card has good underbouts then it doenst need a title shot

How the fuck is it a PPV? Are you paying for it?

At this point, the UFC has too many events every year in order to have a title fight on each one. With 18+ events per year and 5 weight classes that is 3.6 (so 3 or 4) title defences per weight class per year. Once things like injuries and guys having time to recover from the previous fight/train for the nest one that isn't always feasible.

I can see his point, because I remember when there were title fights with every single ppv, sometimes 2 or 3. So I can understand why some people dont look forward to a ppv without a title fight. I mean yea, it does take something away. It would have been great to have Sherk and Franca at this one, just cause it would have got that fight out of the way and allowed both of them to fight in the LWGP. But on the other there are 4 really good match-ups in this show and it will be a pretty solid card overall.
