Default ufc 70?....could have been bigger

don't get me wrong, i'm gonna watch and be happy about watching it on spike, but i think it would have been a lot bigger card if they would have switched and put crocop vs. aa and gonzaga vs. werdum. maybe my opinion stinks but its just my opinion
what does everyone else think?

That would give AA a #1 contender fight with him being 1-2 in his last 3 fights, and if he were to lose to Cro Cop by dominant fashion it could put a huge question mark on his future. I agree with the matchmaking, I just wish they hyped Werdum v AA more, it's a matchup of 2 Top 10 HW's.

They want to keep AA around as a good HW, and the way to do that is NOT to put a guy who has a glass jaw against the best striker in MMA. They'll give him grapplers until he gets a few wins (if he can: I'd say its 50/50 against Werdum), then he can get killed by CC.

Cro Cop vs. Arlovski is a much better matchup for UFC if it is a title fight to be able to headline a huge PPV, not on a Spike TV card. When the ratings for UFC 70 will just the same if Cro Cop fights Gonzaga as they would be if he fought Arlovski.

i agree, if cro cop and arlovski both win it will be a better ppv draw down the road.....maybe arlovski vs the winner of cro cop and coture? i think it would be a huge draw for the UFC and i know i would be thrilled to see it!

i think i remember somewhere i read that Werdum already beat gonzaga? and handedly so that would be a dumb idea and as stated above why on earth would UFC put in one of the fans favorite fighters with a glass chin against the best striker... that would be incredibly stupid and a pointless fight... i love AA but i know he really has no chance at getting that belt in UFC with Couture, CC, Big Nog who are gonna be the people he faces...

if Big Nog fights Vera in his UFC debut i think the loser should fight the loser of this fight.. for like a shot at the number contender.. i think Vera AA would be a really interesting fight.. he has really good striking and if AA could get past that then maybe i could concider giving him a chance vs CC but idk.. i think he is still rebounding from Timmah

but i cant wait for this PPV and i think what is being underestimated which i think is gonna be a really fun fight in Assuario (sp?) Silva vs Kongo.. thats gonna be a stand up war.. Bisping is gonna be fun and i always enjoy watching CC fight so i think this PPV is gonna be stellar

Werdum did beat Gonzaga, but only because he had better cardio. It came down to Gonzaga not having the energy to do anything to attack or defend himself.

the heavyweight division is full of top conteders and dana should do this the right way and let them fight to decide who gets the gonzaga couture winner. in the ww we have this situation with a few contenders with about the same right to a shot (kos, sanchez, fitch, hughes, gsp) not one real seperated. vera, big nog, sylvia, aa, and crocop are all legitimately close to a title shot. i'd like to see sylvia vs. crocop. both guys are coming off loses and are great competitors. also big nog vs. aa with the winner facing vera for a title shot. vera has the best claim in my opinion he is coming off an impressive win while aa was unconvincing, big nog is new to the ufc, and crocop and slyvia are coming off losses.
