Never Even Mentioned Werdum

I can't believe on the Countdown show last night they never even mentioned Werdum's name. It was the most ridiculous thing i've ever seen, if I was a promoter I would have mentioned over and over that we had 2 top 10 HW's facing off for free. What was the master hype man Dana thinking on this one? I think he really dropped the ball. I know the UFC fans aren't familiar with Werdum, but he still should've been mentioned in a commercial or something, all they said was Arlovski is trying to make his run back to the title. Hopefully i'm getting bout 2-1 odds for Werdum, i'll be all over it. What do you guys think about this lack of respect they're showing Werdum?

Yeah, I thought it was odd how the UFC 70 commericals just say "The Pitbull, Andrei Arlovski hungry for a win." You'd think they were feeding him a gatekeeper to build his confidence up. I mean hell, they mentioned Lytle's name more when he was being fed to Hughes.

That's what i'm saying, I was starting to wonder if they didn't want to bring him up because he's beat Gonzaga.

thats a valid point, i didn't see the countdown show ( i try not to watch it til the day of, cuz i get too pumped up for it, lol )

i just saw the pics from the weight-in / press conference and Werdum looks like he means business, i hope the "Pitbull" is coming in prepared, this is the fight i am most looking forward to

It was a disappointing Countdown Show actually. It only showed highlights of Cro Cop from Pride, it didn't show him training or have any interview clips with him. Then they went on about Bisping v Sinosic for about 20 minutes, and Machida v Heath for 20 minutes. Werdum always means business and he will win this in the 2nd Round by Sub or TKO from top position.
BTW I am too pumped for this.

it is stilly for them not to talk about werdum. they have the Pride library now. they could easily put a highlight together to show people who he is. i understand why they didn't have any cc stuff. he trains back hom in croatia. its not that easy to get a crew from zuffa there to do a segment with him. other than croatian press he really doesn't let anyone bother him while hes training. until he is the champ we aren't going to get alot camera time with him. that one great thing about couture he really is a great face for the sport. cc will be more of the quite champ.

the cc highlight reall wasn't bad. they did slip in a clip of him and fedor. i got hyped when i saw that. first time the ufc has ever had fedor on tv.

I think he's too well rounded for AA. World class BJJ, high quality Judo, and decent standup gives him more ways to win this fight.

All in all it was an unusual Countdown show.

Often with these PPV's (which UFC70 of course isn't, at least in the US, but I'm sticking with convention) you get a Countdown show and a UFC All Access show.

The UFC70 Countdown show was much more like a hybrid Countdown/All Access than previous Countdowns have been - i.e. focusing a lot more on the training and strategies for the fight, vs. straight up hype and building up the back stories.

But that doesn't make sense either b/c UFC can use Pride footage now, so...
