UFC to Cincinatti in Oct - Silva vs Franklin possible Headliner

UFCjunkie.com has heard from a few sources this past week that the UFC still intends to put on an event in Cincinnati later this year, and it could happen as soon as October. Additionally, a rematch between current UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva and former champ Rich Franklin would be one of the marquee matches.
Franklin lost his title to Silva with a devastating first-round TKO at UFC 64.
UFCjunkie.com, headquartered in Cincinnati, has been told that the rematch would happen regardless of Silva’s champion status. He is currently slated to defend his title at July 7’s UFC 73 event against top contender Nate Marquardt.
Following his win over Jason MacDonald at last month’s UFC 68 event, Franklin told the 19,079 fans in attendance at the sold-out Nationwide Arena about the event. He said that UFC officials informed him that the organization would be returning to Ohio late in 2007 for an event in Cincinnati.
UFC 74 is expected to take place in August, and a UFC 75 event (featuring UFC welterweight champion Matt Serra vs. Matt Hughes) should happen in September. Cincinnati’s October event could be dubbed UFC 76.
The most likely venue for the event would be U.S. Bank Arena. The downtown property, which was previously named Riverfront Coliseum, shares a plaza with the Cincinnati Reds’ Great American Ball Park and can hold approximately 17,000 spectators.
Last month’s UFC 68, the first-ever UFC show in Ohio, was a hugely successful event by any standards and was surely a contributing factor for the return visit to the Buckeye State. In addition to setting a record for the the largest live attendance in North American mixed-martial arts history, UFC 68 also broke the arena’s record for live gate at $2,471,820. More than 95 percent of the crowd was in its seats before the night’s first preliminary fight.
Although Cincinnati would prove to be a central location for many fans in the Midwest, UFC fans hoping to fly into the city may be wise to start saving some extra cash. The Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport was again named the most expensive airport in the country this year, according to the Department of Transportation.

It would definitely throw a wrench in Dana's plans if Rich loses to Kampman and Silva loses to Nate.
But I want to see this rematch regardless.

Well Franlkin should get by his next match fine but its Silva that has his hands full. Either way I think they will still have these 2 rematch.

Hell yeah, I love watching live fights especially when the hometown boy's involved. I think this will be a title fight btw.

If it's true Bisping is moving to 185 after this fight I would like seeing Bisping v Okami for a #1 contender match.

I would like to see that fight but I don't know if Bisping really deserves it.

I think Yushin is comparable to Jon Fitch in regards to how the UFC under-utilizes him.
Okami is a stud, he just can be kind of boring b/c he does the same thing every fight. He throws out strong jabs to keep his opponents from striking with him, then clinches and puts his opponent down and proeeds to gnp. He does this every rd until his opponent gets tired, and then he mounts and starts dropping bombs. Most of the time he finishes the fight in the third (just like he was TKOing Swick @ UFC69).
And even though he finishes most of his fights, the fact that the 1st two rds are kind of boring gives the UFC pause IMO.

I know what your saying about him and Fitch, they kinda go under the radar. I wouldn't really call him boring, he knows what works for him and uses it. I think if he fights an elite guy he will shine but I guess only time will tell.

I'm pretty sure it was on one of these threads, i'm not 100% though. It was after the first interview when he said he'd feel like a wuss for dropping to MW. I think it was after Pride was bought too, so farely recent.
