What now for aoki?
with the Pride LWGP taking place in the states. likely at 155 i wonder what aoki will do.
he is the current 167lbs champ of shooto and fights 160 for Pride. he probably walks around btw 175-180 tops. i think he'll make the cut to 155. but he could easily fight 170, he would be one of the smaller guys at the weight class. but he talked about fight there before.
i found an interview with him on sherdog. in it he talks about not wanted to fight for k-1 or Pride being that they are "entertainment shows." He spoke about wanting to fight karo, diaz, and st.pierre. he gave bj and hughes alot of respect (this interview is from 2/07) but i find it very interesting.
i love watching aoki fight he one of the most dynamic jujitsu/judo players in mma and submission wrestling.

Yeah I think Aoki is too heavy to cut to 155 all the time. He should just get a little bigger and jump to 170.
His rubber BJJ is top notch, he will do well in either of those divisions.

Wherever he goes people better watch them limbs. I think UFC WW would welcome somebody like Aoki since it's more wrestler dominated.

Yeah I think if you want to see Koscheck cry...put Aoki against him.
Aoki v Serra would be an awesome match-up.

Oh yeah, wrestlers vs Aoki would be entertaining too imo.
Aoki vs Hughes
Aoki vs Kos
Aoki vs Diego
Aoki vs Fitch
I think i'd take Aoki over all of them.

i think the most interesting matchup the ufc has when it comes to aoki is karo.
aoki is an equally as good judo player as he is a jujitsu guy. i think that would be an amazing fight with techniques and escapes flowing differently than any other mma match.
i do believe that the unified rules play against aoki though. he's never really been elbowed in the face and it could pose a problem since he likes to pull guard.

Duh I forgot all about Karo (I was thinking about wrestlers) but that would be a very good fight. I think Aoki's JJ is good enough to tie arms up and avoid max damage when he pulls guard, but we'll just have to wait and see.

I'd rather see him fight at 170. PRIDE is supposed to have a 170 lb WW division coming up and PRIDE doesn't have a whole lot of guys to put in that division. They'll have to split the 160 division into 2 divisions. Aoki would be one of the top guys in that new division.
