Will MMA change Boxing?
Could MMA change the face of Boxing? With MMA becomming the fastest growing sport out there, and it's strangle hold it has on Boxing. Do you see Boxing changing things up a bit?
What if Dana White just decided to start a new division of the UFC, what if he decided to hold a new breed of Boxing matches, but with 4 oz mma gloves instead? How much more exciting would Boxing be if it was 3 to 5 rounds with MMA gloves? You would see an entire different style of Boxer. A more stratigic Boxer that won't take as many shots as Boxers do now. Crazy one punch KO's and very few decisions I would bet.
i know that personally I would be much more intrested if Boxing was like that.
Do you think that the the influence of MMA or Dana White himself could do something like this, could we see another evolution in the sport of Boxing?

Not a chance.
By the way, boxing isnt in the freefall people think it is. Look at the money De La Hoya will be getting for his next fight. The heavyweight division is a wreck, but overall boxing is doing fine.

I have to admit, I watch much more MA than I do boxing. I used to watch boxing often, but have lost interest due to the quality of MMA matches now shown.

Boxing is fine the way it is in terms of the gloves and rounds. Why do we need to turn every sport into an extream sport these days? Boxing needs what MMA has in regards to better match ups, better promotions, and less build up just so Don King can soak up as much money as possible. That is why boxing is failing. How can you feel good about handing over $50 bucks to Don King when he single handidly ruined boxing.
When I was a kid there were boxing greats and boxing itself was great. We had Tyson, Foreman (still), Marvin Haggler, Hectar Camacho, Ray Lennard, Holmes, etc. Now we have De la Hoya (who is close to the end), Jones Jr. (who is close to the end), Tarver, Lewis, fuck I don't even know because I cannot stand professional boxing anymore.
MMA is going to hurt Pro boxing just like it will hurt Olympic wrestling, not because those sports can't compete as organizations, but because the talent that would normally funnel to pro boxing and olympic wrestling will now be funneled into MMA, which is a much faster way for amatures to become pro and make more money earlier in life.

Boxing is fine and will never lose it's fan base. It's just no good HWs right now but when DLH fights PBF it will blow MMA away as far as PPV buys. The only thing boxing needs is good match ups but it's such a world wide accepted sport that it will alwayz have it's stable fan base.
BTW, MMA doesn't have a strangle hold on boxing lol.
And your idea doesn't make sense. 4once glove wouldn't make boxing more exciting the only reason you think boxing is boring is because a good boxer knows how to dodge a punch and not get KOed in 2 min. It would be worse because Dana wouldn't have the money to pay a really good boxer so we would see a bunch of cans fighting each other, and all MMArtists are cans compared to a world class pro boxer when it comes to boxing.

As long as Boxing is paying their world class fighters 15 to $20,000,000 for a PPV fight and the mediocre fighters are getting paid like $300,000 dollers to fight on smaller venues Boxing is going no where but it is wishfull thinking.
Of course im a boxing fan.

I guess we will have to see how Boxing does down the road.
Having a stand up division in the UFC would be great though. With those gloves it would make for very exciting matches. It would be a totally different style than Pro Boxing. I would just like to see how that change to the sport of Boxing would go over with the fans. Would Pro Boxing fans be interested in something like this? I know as a casual Boxing fan it would get my intrest.

I don't think it would be different nor a total style difference. It would be Jack Dempsey and Jack Johnson all over again. It used to be that way but they changed the rules for fighters protection.
If that did happen though, I wouldn't wanna see MMArtists Box because they're horrible.

It would be different, you could just cover up because those MMA gloves can slip through and connect. Boxers that can take a punch won't be taking a few just to land a big one. It would be more quick combinations with more KO power in both fighters hands.
