Does anyone know how the UFC fight purses/payouts are determined?

i was just wondering about this. i usually read and see how much certain fighters are paid for fighting and there are also a few that i don't understand. for ultimate fight night on thursday, Melvin was paid $7,000 and lost in the main event. rich clementi was paid $12, 000 and lost a non-televised match. i had remembered checking out the fight where franklin lost to silva and silva wasn't paid near the amount that franklin was so i just wanted to see if anyone on here knew how they figured the amounts up.

yeah, his pay is at the top of the guys that lost and more than a few that won. i'm just confused at clementi's pay. he was the 3rd highest paid fighter. perhaps it has something to do with TUF? joe daddy and kenny were the figthers that were paid more and they're both products of that show as well as being top fighters in their classes.

Also I always see them say that in addtion to the reported pay the fighters receive undisclosed bonuses. I really want to know how much those are. Also how do they determine who gets one.

For example, Melvin (supposed to be the main event) lasts less than a minute. Does he deserve anything extra?

It's all about contracts. They pay you whatever you agree to when you sign the contract. Although Rich's pay looks exceptionally high since generally win bonus matches your show bonus, so he would be making 12 and 12 (had he won)

Yep. They fight for whatever they agreed to in their contract. Lower level guys like we saw Thursday tend to have agreements which guarantee them [X] dollars for fighting and [X] dollars for winning. Some of the better known guys have large base pay figures and smaller win bonuses, and the top tier guys like Couture and Liddell have a base pay in addition to a very lucrative cut of the PPV or gate profits.
